GlennM's Journal, 20 August 2010

As you who are my buddies may have noticed I am a lot busier these days. I am starting computer classes ASAP, next week most likely to help me to go to school next January at a nearby university. Today I had to make like nine calls - that is what happens when you're not exactly healthy and need to call doctors and the pharmacy not to mention the bank and other places and be on the phone nearly an hour and a half. At least I have the minutes on my cell. The computer is writing messed up, so I am off and will try to do some vocabulary words and get onto journals this weekend. My life has changed the past two weeks and in one big way is I am not putting up with much B.S. anymore...

I hear you there Glenn, about being busy. Sometimes, it seems I have so many appointments I will go crazy. I totally depend on my phone to remind me. I set alarms for the appointments X2. Are you having trouble with your laptop? They do take a lot of getting used to. I had some problems when I first started using it, but with time it gets easier. The keyboard was weird for me at first too. I loved having a mouse, but I have misplaced mine so I have no choice but to use the keyboard. Don't fret over the vocabulary words. We all understand you have a lot going on. When you have time, fine, but don't worry. Stop by our journals when and if you can. I have found I cannot get into them but every couple of days. Some nights I am too tired and other nights, I try to catch up.....like tonight. Hope you are feeling as best as possible, and that you will have a good weekend. Glad to hear you are toughening up and not letting anyone be a problem to you anymore. Sorry to hear about your neighbors passing. She sure lived a long time tho. Probably saw a lot of changes in her lifetime. How is your weight doing. I didn't see a weight recorded since August 11th. Still going good? Well, Glenn, have a nice evening, sleep well and I hope the weekend is fun for you.

Hi NN, I commented on abbadabba's journal. My neighbor was more like a relative than my own relatives. I visited her every month or two for a good while I guess, she was like a great aunt to me. She was a few years younger than both my grandmothers, I have one great aunt who is older, 95 I think, and another that is 81 or so. She told me a 'magic wand' was the slang word in the olden days for a man's private parts. She spoke her mind. I never knew that till she told me, never heard of it as a kid. It is a bit funny. Anyway, weight is OK, found low calorie bread and meats for sandwiches. I got a mouse for the laptop that is going on a pad I think. It is cordless. I am thinking of letting three other people GO. It will be tough, but it will leave room for new people to enter my life. Two of them are friends who always bitch at me or start arguments, the other is a similar-type relative. I have had enough, life is too short for drama for no reason at all. My life has totally changed, I've changed and it's permanent and I am going to maybe be on here a lot less. I hope to do vocabulary words at least weekly. It seemed when I worked full-time I had more time for ME. My mother thinks I do nothing with my spare time. I don't watch TV sixteen hours a day like most people I know on their day off from work. And now I have even less time for here. It's not you guys and gals - it's me. The keyboard on the laptop is a bit different but I'll get used to it in time. Tomorrow I have to move furniture around, go out to a meeting, clean my apartment, do laundry, write, do some studying for an upcoming class. I am not remotely the person I was a month ago, and am busier, and also happier for it too, I'm getting the dross out of my life...

In order to be healthy we need to eliminate the toxins from our life. That includes people not just pesticides and the like. I am very happy to hear that you are planning on taking some classes. I think I suggested that to you some time ago as a good way to meet new people (and expand your mind at the same time!). I'm certain that you will do well. I hope you have taken advantage of all of the financial aid options available to you. Look into scholarships and grants because those are the ones you don't have to pay back. When I went back to school as an adult learner I was able to get some great scholarships so when I finished my bachelor's degree I had zero debt. You may just be planning to take a few classes here and there rather than get a degree and if that is the case still go for the financial aid.

Thanks slease - my sister said I should qualify for a Pell Grant or such as my income is low enough probably. I just have to get a work statement from last year on income this week to get the ball rolling hopefully for January or the following September, whatever. I can't get V.A. money since the free college is only for Veterans who are 9/11 and after, which is awesome though, it will keep lots of them off of Veteran's benefits - the ones truly capable of going to get trained for anything can go do anything they want and the government will totally pay for it. It is only a win/win situation in my eyes as these vets that go to college and vocational training will contribute mightily to the tax base in the future. When I was in I couldn't get any real benefits - and was too mentally unsound anyway aftwards due to agoraphobia and the arthritis was bad. Last night at work a female friend just wanted to start drama, I am surely getting her out of my life - enough is enough (outside of work). Thanks slease for checking in - I am moving furniture in my apartment - it's a mess now and may not finish until tomorrow...
