I am experimenting with the Cheat to Lose diet. When my husband first suggested it I was hesitant. The thought of having cheat days just seems so against everything I've ever done to try to lose weight. Then again... I haven't been all that successful at losing weight for a long long time. When I actually read the book about the diet, it really appeals to my scientific nature. Since I've been low carb dieting for quite some time, I'm skipping the priming phase and going directly to core. I'm going to give it a month to see if I do better than I was doing on Atkins. If so, it seems like a great program!

Some times a good cheat meal or whole cheat day can spur on good weight loss. I've never been that great with it as it tends to lead to a binge for me.

I don't really call that a cheat to lose diet. I have found over the years that sometimes you get to a number and cannot seem to drop below it. What seems to happen is your body thinks it is being starved and so it is holding on to what it has and storing some extra, thus not letting the scale show a loss. When I got stuck without a loss for over two weeks, I would eat on the weekend. Not go overboard, mind you, but eat stuff that I had not had for the longest time like ribs or fries. Then on Monday, go right back to the dieting as usual. Your body will think you are feeding it and you will drop below the plateau. This has always worked for me. Right now, I have not done that yet, but I can see it coming.

The diet is more complicated then just a cheat day. Days 1 and 2 you eat low carb (but more veggies and less fat then I was eating on Atkins). Days 3 and 4 I eat like I'm on South Beach... a little more good carbs, a little less fat. Days 5 and 6 are high carb, low fat, and 7 is my cheat day. At first I didn't seem to be losing any weight, but things are picking up now. Hopefully the trend continues.

Got ya, I cannot do that. I am a diabetic and cannot cut out carbs. Weight Watchers seems to be working for me, though. Good luck and thanks for the info.
