Sandy701's Journal, 03 April 2013

No exercise walking today and probably not tomorrow either while this rain system pushes through. We can really use the rain....just maybe not so much all at one time. Stairmaster was my exercise for today.

My excursion on my ME day was a success. Found a treasure or two at the antique place and absolutely enjoyed my time there. I spent SO much time there, I had to forget about a couple other places.

I found a great cooking pan at Bed, Bath & Beyond. Years ago, T-fal made an "everything pan" that resembled a wok, only a bit smaller. I think there are still reviews on that pan on Amazon, even though it's long been discontinued, and all the reviews are stellar. It just works! DH and I used our pans like that almost to the exclusion of anything else. A regular wok doesn't cut it, nor do the various fry pans, chicken cookers, etc. But, at BB&B yesterday, there was a pan that was a near-replica, so I snatched it up. We'll have to see how the non-stick enamel coating holds up, though. Still, it's worth it to give it a try.

I also went to the swimsuits-only store and tried on a few pieces. Had I realized they closed at 6, I wouldn't have waited until 5:45 to go in! This place is on the expensive side, for me, but it has every style and size combination you could ever want, from really tiny to quite large...all in great patterns and colors. I found a tankini-style suit that has fantastic colors. I would have tried another version by the same manufacturer, but, sadly, it was closing time. I've got a suit from last year, but others from 2 years ago are now a bit large. With a pool and the weather down here, I've got to have a few suits so I can rotate them.

All in all, a very relaxing and successful afternoon. And....I wasn't even hungry! Goal accomplished.

Well there, your next excursion (Sandy's Day Out) is all planned. Go to the two stores you forgot about and then save enough time to plan a proper purchase at the swimsuit store - and do it soon while they still have everything in stock! BTW - Do you remember the name of the everything pan? I'm going to BB&B Saturday.

AWESOME on the ME day! Sounds like you took advantage of every moment! I just started using an old seasoned iron skillet and believe it or not, stuff doesn't stick in it, it seems better than that tfal that wears out! I hope i can find another in a used store like it. I will have to check out one of those swim shops! You are now recharged!

Buffy, the pan is by Denmark Tools for Cooks...a ceramic, non-stick, 11 inch "chef pan." Can't miss it hanging up on the wall, as the interior is bright blue! Outside is a charcoal gray. DH LOVES the blue, I don't, but that's not what's important anyway. The brand is an off-brand, so is priced at a pretty reasonable $19.99....but use a BB&B coupon and it drops into the $16 range. That's pretty much what I paid for the T-fal ones many years ago.

LGM, I AM re-charged! DH bought an iron skillet a few years back, but we just have it hanging up as a kitchen decoration these days. He used it....I never did. The one thing that's great about those iron skillets is that they don't wear out and they don't eventually shed minute pieces of plastic into your food - :0 But seriously, those cast iron skillets are HEAVY!!!

Thanks Sandy. Also - I appreciate the reminder to bring my coupons!

Sandy my mom gave it to me a few months back, I want using it either, then I thought, hey, the surface is shiny, maybe I can cook an egg in it, and Walla! guess it was seasoned well, yea very heavy, I can just leave on the stove since I only cook for myself :-)

Hey Sandy...I totally agree that emotions trigger that "I can't eat enough to fill up" syndrom. Glad you figured it out, had your shopping trip, found treasures & are now re-charged. Super proud of you for getting yourself new swimsuits! That is a real treat...no more baggy butt for you!

Well GG, let's just say if there IS any baggy-butt syndrome, it won't be the fault of the swimsuit! LOL!
