This is not working for me. And I'm not sure what I am doing wrong. I'm watching what I eat, my calorie and carb intake, and I have recently incorporated walking and exercise at least 4 times a week. I stopped drinking sodas, cut out my breads and starches, and sweets. I'm eating vegetables I never thought I would eat....and enjoy. Only drink unsweet tea and water and eat mostly fresh fruit when I do eat fruit. So.... why am I not losing the weight I need to. It took me almost 3mths to lose 4lbs eating less than 1500 calories a day most of those days and carbs under 100.... which was recommended to me for my height and weight.

This is so depressing. I am starting to think maybe I am suppose to be a "big" girl. One day maybe I can start to love "me" again. But, today is not that day.

Dear friend, I have the same problem but a friend told me that I have tu increment my exercises and never drink more Yogurt because it have sugar. Today I will make excersises more time and drink too much water and eat just fish and salad... I have to lose 18 pounds.

Are you tracking all your food honestly? Are you getting enough lean protein, lean dairy, fruits and veggies? Are you drinking water? (flushes out sodium and keeps things moving). Are you eating too many processed foods (tons of sodium)? You may need to play around with calories. Maybe zig zag them with higher and lower days (1200, 1400, 1300, 1500, etc. ) You might also invest in a food scale and measuring cups. You would not believe how much more we overeat when we just "eyeball" our portions. If you give it a go and still do not see any results, you might check with the doctor in case there is a medical reason (thyroid). Keep changing things up till you find something that works.

Have you talked to your doctor about this? Some medications can make it difficult to lose weight. Have you been tested for thyroid problems, diabetes, etc.? I agree with Suzi161. Make sure you are honestly tracking your food. Cut out foods high in carbs or sugars. Don't give up. No one is meant to be a "big girl". Get a treadmill and every time you start to give up walk for fifteen minutes instead.

Thanks Suzi61, TristanZ, and claryclary for your comments and concerns. I was tracking all of my food consumptions and counting calories and carbs, as well as protein, fat, and sodium for each. For some foods I had to try to research the nutritional value on the FDA food chart on line or on the websites of places such as Wendy's where I may have gotten a salad from. January of this yr I stopped eating breads, drinking sodas, coffee, sweets, and my favorite, tea. I cut out all of my sweets. I did this for 4 wks then weighed myself. I had lost a few lbs and my body felt so much better but I felt like I should have lost more weight than what I had. The lack of weight loss caused me to cheat a little. I ate 2 burgers, and rice and pasta once each, over the next 4 wks. Drinking water is not a problem for me. I love water. But, I wasn't exercising or watching my food portion sizes. I got discouraged more than a few times but I didn't get crazy with eating "junk" again. Listening to co-workers at work telling about their low carb, high protein diets, I decided to try it. I loaded up on as much meat, cheese, and low carb vegetables as i wanted. Ate greek yogurt for breakfast, snacked on nuts instead of candy and chips, and herbal teas sweetened with honey. BIG MISTAKE! I think... no, I know, that's where my problem lies. So, now, I am exercising more which includes: walking 3 - 4 times a week, 2-4 miles each time; 30mins of cardio and strength exercises (from a good video I found on Youtube) 3xper wk. I've recently cut out most of my red meats, pork, and fried foods. I try to drink at least half my body weight in water per day and not eat after 7pm, which is hard because I don't get off work till 6pm daily. I'm not giving up on my weight loss goal and I thank you all for showing concern. As of today, April 1, 2013, I have lost only 10 lbs. I was 213 lbs at 5'5" Jan. 15, 2013. Now I'm 204 lbs. 2 1/2 mths of unsuccessful dieting is depressing. Most of the extra weight is in my mid section. But this time, I am truly determined to get this weight off. I have been in the over 200 lb club since 2004. I want to lose 50 lbs by my birthday at the end of Sept. Maybe I am just wanting to lose the weight too fast now. I haven't consulted a Dr. and as far as I know, I have no major health issues. Unless of course being lazy is an illness. I am encouraged now. Thank you guys.

Regarding your reply to me. Diets don't work. To lose weight and keep it off you can't follow fad diets. The only thing that works is eating less and moving more. That means eating whatever you like but eating less of it. Count your daily calories and only consume enough food to reach and stay at your ideal weight. It is a permanent lifestyle change, not a temporary thing. If you're making a permanent change it's okay if you lose weight slowly because you will reach your goal and stay there. No need to be in a hurry. You will be eating differently forever. I hope that makes senses. Anyway, God bless you and hang in there.

Thank you TristanZ. You are one of several who have told me this. My goal is to lose the weight and keep it off. I would rather just eat healthier than to follow a fad diet any day. Thank you for your encouragement. It means a lot more when you have some support. Blessings to you as well.
