CollyMP's Journal, 30 March 2013

OK-sorry, didn't even weigh this morning-woke up at 3am hungry and kinda overdid it on the triscuits, so once again I put far too much fiber into the system and things are...working out, let's say. LOL! Didn't go over on calories (after midnight it IS technically the next day, right?) Wasn't hungry and ate several times Friday, anyway-THAT was where I messed up, and pretty much all of it was heavily salty food. I knew nothing good would show up on the scale, so I just didn't even bother. Went to the grocery store, got my preferred healthy snack and meal foods, so I'm back on track!

I am SO TIRED! Grocery shopping yesterday and today, plus we took down a door to sand, patch, prime and paint. We're doing all the doors in the house. They were originally stained but they've been so badly damaged that it isn't worth the effort to strip and stain, and the wood wasn't that high a quality to begin with (the house was previously owned by folks with 7 kids and the house has a somewhat "worn" feeling). Also did some yard work-Hey! I should enter that as exercise! Got me all sweaty and out of breath, that counts, dangit!

Anyway-one more door is done. Hopefully this summer we'll finish off all the doors, the closet doors, and the trim, and the house will look more "cottage" and less "totally devoid of architectural interest 60's ranch-style box with ugly orange-brown-stained chipped doors and baseboards". Because it really takes forever to type that all out.

In totally non-diet-related news-I bought 3 primroses at Lowe's yesterday. For a buck each (actually .90 cents with the military discount). They were tres' droopy (hence being on the mark-down mostly dead plant cart) but I filled them up to their brims in water and sat them in 3" of water in the sink and 2 hours later they were bright green and upright and thrilled to be here, thank you very much! I'm planting them right outside my bedroom window in the raised bed so I can see them every day. Just as soon as I'm sure we're done with snow for the year! Yes, they can take the cold, but they may go dormant and I don't want them to.

So I'm going to bed soon, hopefully will check in tomorrow with happy scale news (or not-I may just go an ENTIRE WEEK without weighing in!). Be good, everyone!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend - I don't have a green thumb, so what we have growing in the yard will all eventually be taller than me, lol - 3 apple trees, a golden chain tree, a "fringe" tree - looks really cool when it blooms, like cream colored fringe!, and 3 can't remember what they're called, but they have vivid pink flowers, and the hummies love them! all are in some stage of budding, so excited to see how they do this year!

Yes, working in the yard and lifting and moving and painting all are EXERCISE.. YAY!!! make you you give yourself the credit for it. I'm feeling the muscles that the exercise machine has been informing me that DO exist. I don't use it for long, but I know I can and will gradually work up to a real work out. It's actually kinda fun. It's the "Total Gym" and you are using your own body weight as the weight on the machine that you are pulling. The more of an incline and the harder it is to do. I'm a wimp so it's not that far up. LOL. Another week is here so it's time I get back on it. I get paid tonight so a shopping we will go tomorrow and get all the goodies that I want and need to do this. Colleen, I'm glad everything is 'working properly' but you might want to remember this for the next munchie fest. Love you.. HUGS

Oh I definitely will, I'm still "working it out", so to speak! I start Dairy Farmers Wife's challenge today as well, at least half an hour of some sort of exercise at least 4 days a week. I have to go pick up some batteries for my Wii fit board so I can do yoga (oh how I love yoga, I always feel so good after, but I never take the time for myself-that stops today)

it seems you and I are a lot alike in that area. If you enjoy it and it makes you feel better than you should MAKE time to do it. Chris I'm sure can handle 30 mins or so on the computer while you go sit in strange positions and find your inner self. I think I might look into Yoga.

I think you would get a lot out of it. It helps relax your muscles and joints, it puts you in a very mellow state of mind, AND of course it helps your balance. I've heard people say that the age you start doing yoga is the age that you will always be, or something like that. It helps delay the aging process, and normally I would think such claims are hocus pocus but I have in fact met people that have done yoga for decades and they truly do not look their age. There's something about it that does really remarkable things for the human body and mind.
