I am on a sugar kick. I'm tired (from the sugar) and yet I keep eating more. Any tips to get this monkey off my back?

Well by the looks of it you are still ahead for the day in calories!!! Drink some water OR hide the sugar! Who am I to give advice- I inhaled 3 almost 4 pieces of pizza and 3 choc chip cookies. Impressed? :). Just chalk it up to a bump in the week. Tomorrow is a new day :)

Drink lots of water. I find that when I want a coke, I pour the water down my throat. It fills me up and pushes the craving away for a few hours. Yes, cokes are my biggest hurdle. I also try to redirect my thoughts, do something that keeps my mind occupied. If I have sweets and/or cokes at the house, I keep them out of sight, or somewhere it takes even a small effort to get to them, such as the outside fridge. Though I prefer to simply not have them in the house, this way, I really have to go out of my way to get it, such as putting on shoes, finding my car keys, and driving to the store.

Thanks ladies. I think I was just having a rough couple days. And yes, I did actually drive out of my way to go buy danishes "for the kids" (yeah right) and then proceed to eat 2 of them. Then I had 2 more the next day. Uhg. Today, there was one left in the box and I threw it out. Sugar is a tough one for me. While I am doing okay for now, diabetes is very prevalent in my family, so I need to watch out that I don't go too crazy overboard.

If it's prevalent in your family, you are right in that you need to start watching. However, one of the lesser known facts is that diabetes is not only a disease that affects the over-weight population, or those with bad eating habits. My husband's uncle by marriage has never been over weight, and he was diagnosed a few years ago with diabetes. And one of his cousins (my husband's) who runs marathons, eats healthy, doesn't eat a lot of sweets or drink sodas, who is not over-weight by any means, was also diagnosed with diabetes and he's insulin dependent now as well. The uncle is in his 70's (I think) and was diagnosed in his 60's. That's not so bad a lot of your older people are diagnosed with the disease. However, the cousin is only in his 30's. Just make sure you test periodically for it...ask your Dr to do an A1C test once every couple of years.
