My coworker - the one who lost 85 pounds by committing to eating healthy and being active - started off walking for 30 minutes. She had not desire to run. One day she felt the inkling to run a few steps. Now, she still calls herself a walker, but she runs several days a week on her break as well. She was my encouragement to workout on my lunch break.
Also, I run because I can't afford a gym membership right now. I had to take a drastic paycut to move here, so I keep up my standard of living by taking up low cost/no cost activities.
