mars2kids's Journal, 25 March 2013

Went to the doctor today for my joints, and he still doesn't know what's going on, but I don't have to see him for another year, so that's good. He's also happy that I'm trying to eat better and exercise, and it feels good for the doctor to say you are doing the right things than tell you to change things. :)
I did do horribly yesterday though. I think some emotions had a part in that, but I still knew better and didn't listen to myself saying "Don't eat that, you'll regret it." I did really well when we went out to eat for lunch, grilled chicken, asparagus, and a small amount of rice, then I went out of control with a candy bar, some pizza for dinner (store bought) with breadsticks, and a girl scout cookie.
Today is a new day and I'm going to keep pushing myself to make healthier choices. I'm determined now to lose before vacation in May, I know I can. Last week I worked out 5 days, and I felt really good about myself, so I'm starting today and I'm going to get at least 5 days in, hopefully 6.

Have you tried glocosamine sulphate 500mg for your joints? Buy at Holland and Barrett. It is a fantastic suplement. I have been taking it for years.

Are they big pills? I have tried a few different brands of glucosamine and there were a couple that came as huge pills and they made me sick.

Stuff about joint pain from my experience- just things to investigate and think about: My Mom can't eat corn or milk products- they make her joints hurt terribly. She also claims her joints feel better when she takes Kyolic garlic supplements and turmeric, 2 caps each twice a day. She said that the Glucosamine made her joints hurt worse, I have heard others say it helped, it must be a personal thing. I've tried Turmeric, seems to work, I've got a bum knee and it stopped giving me fits going up and down stairs after starting on it. I'm celiac and if I get gluten I can get terrible joint pain as a reaction if I get 'glutened', it goes away after a week and no gluten. I've just been reading about niacin and niacin amide from Dr. Abrahm Hoffer. His book is on Amazon. He claims great relief from arthritis. I hope you find relief. Good luck.

LOL Mars - not laughing at your pain but I read the opening sentence of your journal 'went to see doc about joints' and thought 'woohoo, I want her doc!' I don't know why I say that, I'm clueless, but it looks really good in the movies. I think the only thing that changed for my joint pain was when I stopped processed carbs (crackers, enriched bread, bagels) I finally caught myself not rubbing on sore spots so much. Prior to that I loved on pain meds.

Yes, big white capsules. They work for me and some of my friends. I am talking about the glucosamine SULPHATE 500mg to be taken ocasionally - twice a week.

Thanks for all the suggestions! I'll have to look into these. And FullaBell, I'm laughing, I didn't see it until you said it, but that first sentence could be taken the wrong way. LOL.
