gg-girl's Journal, 23 March 2013

Took my girls for a nice longer run this morning, 4 miles...had to tucker both of them out because little Bella had her first vet appointment this morning & mama GG came along...well, besides being expensive & hectic, all is well. She got her temperature taken, she got shots, she got pills, she got some goop to eat...with lots of their special doggie treats to smooth the way. Little darlin weighed in @ 15.9 pounds (2.1 pound gain from last Saturday). Quick stop for more doggie treats, rawhides & puppy chow & now they are both sleeping.

Then, I made the mistake of going to the grocery store...turns out it is bunny-hop-madness-day, tons of kids getting bunny ear hats (line for that), face painting (line for that), cookie decorating (yes, line for that too), & yes there was a LOOOOONG line for check outs. But, it is done! Managed to score some more of that lovely fresh asparagus for $1.88 per pound....nummy, yummy.

Making pasta salad for my honies lunch this week...they don't really get a lunch on this job site...have to sneak snacks here & there. So, with no microwave...pasta salads & PBJ & uglie cookies for him.

Tonight is shrimp/asparagus/mushroom primavera.

Tomorrow is snowmobiling...yeah!!

Almost forgot...After much thinking/soul searching, I changed my goal weight from 140 to 145 & lowered my activity level & recalculated my rdi & set at 1500 calories. It is going to be a struggle for me...HUGE!

Long winded as I will quit...for now!

GG's reation - just too cute! As for you - congrats on changing your goal. When you think about it, when we are weighing in at 200, how the heck are we supposed to know what we want to weigh? I won't even mention the age factor (oops - I just did - LOL). Maybe a realistic goal will make it less of a struggle. Best of luck.

I think the vet is getting really expensive! Whats up with that:-) I always gave my doggie her shots except rabies. You'll be able to do your RDI, I find exercising a lot increases my hunger, if you do lighten it up, you won't feel like eating as much (HAHA, that is the theory right)... Dinner sounds splendid, i am going to look out for asparagus too! Have FUN tomorrow, now im jealous of you!

LGM has a point there. When I walk about 3 miles, give or take, I'm fine. But when I did that challenge walking more than 4 miles a day, I was RAVENOUS!!! Of course, I AM a bit hungry most of the time, but that added exercise was just enought to change up something inside me. As for the goal weight, I've always agreed that it's more an art than a science. I think we'll know the goal is right when we get there, although it may take some time to completely adjust and settle in. That asparagus deal sounds great...I'll have to check on that when I shop tomorrow. Good to hear both doggies are doing well. Have fun snowmobiling.

LizzyGM...I totally agree with you on vet prices. Everybody was telling me how ripped off I was getting, so I did some price comps & discovered that these so called "cheap" vet places give out bare-bones-prices over the phone, like to get her spayed the price the quoted did not include any pain meds...that was all considered extra! My vet gave me a price range, with their lowest price already including at least SOME pain meds. Totally frustrating, if you don't know enough to ask, you end up paying the same anyway. Turns out, my vet was within $10-$20 on a per visit basis, which I would rather pay than deal with a dishonest (IMHO) vet.

Hi Sandy, yes, I do think excercise increases hunger should all work out in the end right? Well, this has been a long learning curve, that I am still working on.
