Weigh in the same today as last week. I forgot to do my waist measurements before breakfast this morning so I'm going to just record last weeks.

So I started going wheat free (really grain free at this point) sometime at the beginning of the month maybe the 1st or 2nd? I've had two wheat 'exposures'. The first was on the 8th where my wife cooked salmon and made a sauce that had bread crumbs in it. This caused my wrist pain to flair up again for a few days.
The next was I had almost half a beer (Newcastle) on St. Patrick's day, the 16th; I didn't notice any ill effects.

Today my wife and two kids are suffering from allergies, coughing and running nose, however I'm not affected. Is this due to luck or going wheat free? Prior to this I haven't eaten all that much wheat... I was mainly eating sprouted sourdough bread from Alvarado Bakery. While most of the ingredients are good it does have added gluten for texture. Other than this bread I would make soaked buttermilk pancakes from fresh ground wheat (hard red winter wheat & kamut) and I would make soaked steel cut oatmeal. My plan is to go at least 3 weeks without any gluten containing grains and then add some back in slowly. First I'll do the steel-cut oatmeal, then fresh ground kamut & spelt, then fresh ground winter wheat, then figure something out for bread. Maybe I'll try my hand at homemade sourdough.

It is pretty fascinating to experience my wrist pain vanishing after removing a particular food. I wonder if this has something to do with leaky gut syndrome.

While I don't record my weight during the week I did weigh in one morning at 208.5. It will be interesting to see if that was a fluke or not.
210.0 lb Lost so far: 10.0 lb.    Still to go: 25.0 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

Good luck with your experiment. My Sister had gone to the doctor with a bloated abdomen, went through a bunch of tests, etc. with no diagnosis. She decided to give up wheat and lost 18 pounds almost overnight.

Good job Mike, I takes alot of hard work to cut out certain foods....especially ones that are so good and easy to come by.

Hope it goes well!!! I never had allergies till last year, the pollen makes my eyes scratch and sometimes a bit of a headache. I had to do the claritin since pollen is so thick in Georgia! My blue car turns yellow, anyone sucking up that stuff is bound to be irritated by it... Have fun making sourdough. Love it! Oh ya, I also got a stall last week in the loss, I am sure we will pick up the pace next week.

Mike, I have pretty much given up gluten as well...that happens naturally when you go low carb, but there are those low carb breads. I quit those as well, due to the gluten. Now when I eat any gluten, I immediately bloat up and my joints start to hurt (I have Lupus, so that is already a problem). Being gluten free has really curtailed my joint aches, gas, bloating...all the things that I never thought were attributed to gluten.
