STILL ON THE UPSWING!!


Today has been another good day. I am feeling better and better every day. I am still using the inhaler, but it is down from 6 times a day to about 2. I am no longer having to take the cough suppressant either. I am still using the Flonase, which really helps with the stuffy nose.


I did well with my food yesterday, and when late in the evening I got hungry and was searching for something sweet, I ate part of an apple. It was what I was craving, and I am learning that I should listen to those cravings, as long as they aren't refined sugary foods, gluten laden foods, or foods that have a lot of simple carbs.
Today I have had eggs, a piece of cheese, 3 almonds, my coffee, heavy cream, butter, and coconut oil.

I finally got outside and changed the air filter in my car. It needed to be at the last oil change. Why didn't I just let them do it? I am too darned cheap for that. They wanted $18.95 for the air filter and I got it at Wally World for $6...4 screws and 5 minutes later it was all done. I jut hate paying so much for something so simple, and in fact when the weather is warm enough I do my own oil changes...much cheaper. I think that is something every person should know how to do...that and change a tire. But that's just me, and I digress.

We are getting ready to head to mom's for the evening. I need to stop on the way and get fresh salad stuff and rabbit ration for Kerwyn. Then it's down to her house for a night of Rummy and Yahtzee. I have packed my little cooler with appropriate snacks for me, I have my Fitbit on, and I am ready and rearin' to go! I even have my trusty water jug filled to take with me. (I also have a couple of shots of whiskey and a diet soda... ;p ). In usually have a drink with mom...she has beer and I have soda and 7 while we are playing cards. Of course, mine are very weak...I use about 1/3 of a shot per drink (water glass size), lots of ice, and diet dew. I am going to have to find something different to drink with the 7 though, since I am trying to cut out all sweeteners. Until I find something though, I will have my 2 cans a week. I could go with water and 7, but yuck! I have given up the wine...to many carbs. :(

My mental state seems to be improving with my physical state, and that is a relief. I hate feeling BLAH...it is so draining, which in turn leads to more BLAH!

Although not technically on the low carb list, I find apples to be a great snack. They have both soluble and insoluble fiber and a relatively low GI index. And just maybe in your case they will "keep the doctor away". LOL Have a nice evening.

Isn't it great to start feeling better! Your apple pie comment sounded funny to me... You had "part" of an apple pie, (not a Piece or sliver LOL).... Hope you have fun playing games with mom. That sounds so nice. Tomorrow you will be even better!

Oh Steph thats good news that your feeling better...I agree every one should be able to change the oil and tires of their car..I always help my DH on all our vehicles..I have even helped on the backhoe and bulldozer..boy can you get dirty doing those..LOL..Enjoy your time with your mom...Keep getting better sweetie...Love ang Hugs...:O)

Glad you are better! I envy the evening of rummy and Yahtzee. Haven't played the latter in years. I lost my fitbit last year and never could bring myself to pay the price of another one. Is it still being a good tool for you?

Glad to her you are feeling better. I have always been a DIY woman, as my ex never used to be around or couldn't be bothered. I like to be independent, but now I enjoy a man that likes doing things for me & lend him a helping hand :). I also ditched my evening tipple. I swapped it for hot fruit tea, well while it is cold anyway. In the summer I might go back to white wine with sparkling mineral water.

LOL about the air filter, Stef. You're amazing. Is there anything you can't do (asks the city girl who can't do anything)? Glad you're feeling a bit better day by day. I hope your mom let you win a game or two last night. LOL

Buffy, I love apples, but try to keep it to 2-3 ounces. It is enough to satisfy me, but doesn't completely destroy my carb intake for the day. I just bought a cantaloupe and a grapefruit as well. I have been craving both, and I don't even really like grapefruit, so it must mean something. Trying to learn to listen to my body a bit more...except when it begs for sugar! lol

Lizzy, it does feel good to start feeling better. LOL it was part of an apple, not apple pie. I don't make that kind of stuff anymore. We did have fun at mom's, but I lost at both Rummy and Yahtzee! lol

Bren, I am so relieved that I am finally getting better...I was starting to really get scared. Lupus can attack the lungs, and that was my biggest worry. I do all the maintenance stuff around here....changing oil, changing filters, changing gas lines, anything I can fix, I do fix...but not in the cold. Dan won't let me! lol I am just a tomboy at heart! Love ya, my sister/friend! HUGS!

Rowan, thank you. We had a good time at mom's last night, even though I lost at every game! I lost my Fitbit not too long ago and middle sis had a spare she gave me to use. Then baby sis got 2 free through a healthy living program she is in at work, and they were the new ones, so she gave me that one, and her daughter is using the one that middle sis gave me. I do love my Fitbit, and even when I am feeling so rotten, it does have the ability to motivate me to move at least a little more. LOL

schmetterling, thanks! I hate to rely on someone else to do something that I KNOW I can do myself, and even some things I only THINK I can...but I always at least try. Air filters are so easy...4 screws, lift the cover, pop out the old filter, put the new one in, and screw the cover back down. It sure makes a difference in the way the car runs with a clean one versus a dirty one, for sure! I have a great hubby who helps me in any way he can, and has changed the oil on more than one occasion, even though he can't see what he is doing. He is always up for trying to do anything! I didn't do so well with ditching the evening tipple. I enjoy having a drink with mom, and it's only 2 servings (1 jigger) 2 nights a week, so I may just keep that in my plan and allow for it, calorie wise. I just wish I could find something to mix it with that didn't have sweetener...may have to look into some stevia sweetened soda. HMMMM...

Actually, Heather, I am not a very good bike rider, weight lifter, jogger, or spinner! lol You amaze me and always have. I just do the mundane chores! I am glad to be feeling better as well...and I didn't win a single game! >:( LOL
