crabby Kat's Journal, 16 March 2013

I finally tried out my Jillian Michaels Dvd I had bought for a previous trip but never opened! I had a great 45 minute workout while my partner sat on the couch and watched; told me I was in great shape! My foot did fine, only a little pain. I adapted a few moves slightly but still worked out hard.

We ate too much today (once again) so I broke down & started recording my food as best I could. I don't want to end up gaining 10 pounds in two weeks, lol. I can't record obsessively because it drives my partner crazy, but I need more accountability & structure in my food and exercise.

A teasing comment my partner made helped me step away from "free eating". Told me I didn't want to look like Dahlia O'neil, a character in a book I've been reading aloud for our entertainment, when I was snacking on some trail mix. She's 300+ pounds. I even recorded the ice cream we ate, entered one flavor In the database. I also entered the whole grain bread we've been eating.

I think tomorrow I might try my Salsa off the inches Dvd ; did the 'learn the steps' portion the other day. No Zumba classes around here on Sunday.

Working out with a sore foot - you're my hero today. Why do you think you're eating too much instead of just enjoying all those delightful foods to the point you can remember them later with fondess instead of regret? You want to look back on this trip with joy right? ((These are convos I have with myself when I overeat - sharing with you) .

Not trying to be a smartly in any way.. just thinking you are such a fabulous cook I imagine if you focused on the ingredients and prep more you may be able to slow the consumption and give your slender body a chance to be satisfied instead of overfull while gaining the ability to recreate and enjoy the dishes when you return home? ((This is the approach I'm trying when dining out so I can enjoy the meal before and long after..)

My partner has a "let's just wing it " attitude, but does adapt when I put my foot down. We were at an arts & crafts fair when hunger struck; someone had to have a Loco Moscow while I waited until we got back to the condo & made a sandwich on whole grain, turkey breast & some guacamole I made last night. Partner's taking a nap.... The Maui Macaroon people now make dried island pineapple, nothing added. Expensive, but a wonderful sunshine -in -every -bite treat. I also found great dry roster chickpeas to tame my inner snack monster ; BBQ & mocha.

Oooo I could eat my weight in pineapple - have you tried adding it to the guacamole? With chipped up bacon... yummy yum yum yum.

We walked on the beach this morning, all over the arts & crafts fair this afternoon, then some in Lahaina. Hard Rock Cafe had live music with a reggae flavor & I danced around some while we were shopping in their store. My tongue hurts from all the dried pineapple I ate, & I have a ripe one to cut up in the morning! I'll definitely try putting chopped pineapple in my guacamole; I made it with mashed avocado & hot salsa. Hmm, I'll bet that would turn into a great salad with some cooked short grain brown rice, yum! I just noticed that the predictive feature on my kindle changed words I wrote earlier; loco moco and roasted chickpeas. I had ground turkey breast & steamed cabbage for dinner while my partner had a steak, yam, cabbage, & finished off the ice cream (I did have a few bites) . We split a papaya, too. Oh, and one of those Honolulu Cookie Co dark chocolate dipped coconut shortbread cookies delighted my senses; was happy to find that the FS database had nutritional info for it.
