It's been a while since I wrote one of these, but I'm happy to report that things are progressing fantastically and I'm down twenty-three pounds since the beginning of the year! Wow! I don't think I've ever followed a diet so religiously, but it's paying off in the best way and I feel really good: my energy levels are up and I don't feel so bloated and disgusting after meals.

I've gone and splurged every couple of weekends (mostly on Chinese food) and while it seems like a step backwards, I've realized that I have a hard time enjoying myself like I used to. In short, I feel gross after stuffing my face and I don't like it. I still have cravings, but I'm getting better at squashing them down.

After hitting the unavoidable plateau, I decided I needed to change things up. I've cut out any and all bread products, at least for this week. So far I've been getting crazy good results--I've lost over four pounds since Saturday! I'm not a huge bread eater anyway, but I do love my rice and it's been rough trying to overlook it when I go into my cabinets, but if I keep getting results like these, I may get rid of it altogether. I've upped my protein intake to supplement my bread cravings and I'm finally putting to use that fancy blender I bought myself last year. Who knew protein smoothies could be so yummy?

I really need to start a serious exercise regime, though. We'll see how that goes.
