I started this journey last year about this time after a visit to my physician. She wanted to put me on medication for high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and a pre-diabetic condition. I weighed in at 230 (the top of my "safe" zone is 197), so I told her to give me a chance to tackle my weight. In six months I lost 40 pounds with steady exercise (1/2 hour on the treadmill), working at the barn, and being on my feet at work for 8 hour shifts. My weight went down to less than 190, and then . . .
Some life-changing events made it impossible to continue with my regimen, and the weight, every last ounce, crept back on. Now I am at the same place again, starting all over. I walk on the treadmill 45 minutes to an hour at least four times a week, but have been a little slower to get back to a healthy diet. I have noticed some things that indicate I may be dangerously close to becoming a full-blown diabetic, and hope it's not too late to reverse the damage.
This is my last shot - I can't keep going up and down. It is too detrimental to my health, and only gets harder to lose the older I get.
