Am discouraged with the low carb route. just not losing so have decided to research weight watchers. Can't afford to join just yet so am switching to calorie counting but still eating healthy - it will also help financially. Atkins diet is expensive due to meat prices. Will give it a month and see how my mood goes.

I buy super cheap meat. Whole chickens are generally .99/lb and large packs of pork chops go on sale here for 1.99/lb all the time. Eggs are super cheap. You only need 4-6 oz of protein per meal on Atkins and that's really easy to do with the cheaper meats.

Hi Elizabeth! I'd been wondering where you were. I feel so badly that you are struggling. As for economy, those Atkins products are expensive (and cause some people to gain weight). I fill up on cabbage & frozen spinach - two super cheap but low carb veggies. I can often find pre-packaged salads on sale and a $2. bag will last me 2 days.

Take a look at JJVirgin.com diet. I tried 19 diets that didn't work for long and left me always craving and hungry... till I saw her on PBS. Remove 7 highly intolerant foods from your diet for 3 weeks, and lose weight easily, look and FEEL great. She has a new book out too. I also eat 70% of all my food (calories) before 3pm (I eat dinner at lunch) have an afternoon snack fruit or hummus etc and light dinner and NOTHING after 8pm and the weight started to FALL off.

Sorry it's going rough. I eat a lot of canned tunafish, hah... But mostly chicken. Beef prices are crazy! I hope calorie restriction works out for you.
