I just started a new exercise program 6 days ago and my TOM is due within the next few days and I gained 5 pounds, I am annoyed but some how I know it's not water weight and I am waiting to weigh y self after my TOM ends and because I read an article that when we first start working out we gain some weight but it will all be gone within 2 weeks so I hope this is true & I didn't just gain all the weight back :S

Diet Calendar Entry for 06 March 2013:
1174 kcal Fat: 89.93g | Prot: 54.45g | Carb: 52.15g.   Breakfast: avocado, romaine lettuce, extra virgin olive oil, flax seed, brie cheese,  grape tomato. Lunch: chia seed, boneless skinless chicken breasts kirkland, canola oil, zucchini, romaine lettuce, kale. Dinner: chia seed, skinless boneless kirkland chicken brests, grape tomato, extra virgin olive oil, cucumber, romaine lettuce. Snacks/Other: raw almonds kirkland signature, land o lakes heavy whipped cream, organic broccoli florets. more...

Google "why the scale lies" for insight in to water weight fluctuations. Most women gain water weight from TOM each month. And muscles do retain water when you first start an exercise plan or change your current one. They get little tears in the fibers and water replaces to help them heal. It's different for each person. Drink plenty of water (like 6-8 cups).
