Herbie's Journal, 02 October 2007

I'm leveling off now, my weight has been bouncing back and forth by about a pound over the past few days. I've gotten really used to the diet (it's been five months now) and feel like I do well food wise. I'm pretty consistent about phase 2 SBD approach to eating.

Work has been so busy for me since I started this new job last month and I haven't found a way to schedule in regular exercise like I could over the summer. I get some exercise every day walking or riding my bike, but I know it's not enough of a work out to make a big difference on my weight. I'm torn between wanting to lose these last four or five pounds and wanting to give myself a break from worrying about my weight. I reached my initial goal of 135 and feel like I'm a totally different person than I was in April. This is a healthy weight for me and I'm happy with that success. I know that if I really want to lose more I'll have to get my butt to the gym, but I'm not sure if my motivation ought to be 'losing five more pounds' or if that goal just distracts me from the bigger goal, which ought to be just getting more fit.

Any thoughts? :)
134.0 lb Lost so far: 36.0 lb.    Still to go: 0 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

I feel the same as you describe in your first paragraph. I think that if you worry about your weight it must be that the system you have devised needs a little tweaking. You should be able to get it to the point where you *know* that it will work for you and worrying is not a factor. Of course, I am referring to total health (which is what I believe you are talking about). Take good care of yourself herbie!

You've done so great! Hm, it's always a tough decision. I know that for me, I feel a greater pay off with lower numbers, which isn't exactly healthy. But I take that and work with lowering my BMI. Which ever you decide to choose, I'm sure you'll suceed at.

I don't think it's an "or" choice. Get more fit. AND lose the extra five. Clearly you're a top performer, so you can do both! :-)
