Sandy701's Journal, 01 March 2013

OK, so my body's feeling a bit more in the zone today....maybe 75-80%???? Whatever the percentage, I'll take it!

Walked the full 3.1-mile distance today; dogs along for 1.5 miles. That's a bit more for my Collie guy, so we'll see how he does with that distance. He did OK with yesterday's .8-mile walk, but he's still doing some extra licking on the outside edge of his front right foot. I took a good look yesterday when he was lying down, up on the grooming table, but I saw nothing that would indicate any kind of injury, sliver, stuck piece of gravel, or anything like that. Will just have to keep an eye on him. He's normally a real trooper....nothing seems bothersome to him, so even this "minor" problem is worrisome to me!

Food and exercise are doing fine right now. I'm keeping my focus on the HERE and NOW. For my entire journey, I've always kept my focus not-too-far down the road, so as not to feel overwhelmed. But on this little "course correction" I'm in right now, monthly, or even weekly, goals are a bit too far, or so it seems. So, I'm just focusing on TODAY and where I want to see the scale number TOMORROW.

The good news about this weekend's surprise wedding reception is that it's really no big deal at all!!! Not really a "wedding reception" in the traditional sense. Just a gathering of friends and co-workers who will be at a restaurant ahead of the couple....and then surprise them and have a drink with them. No cake, no meal, no finger foods, no appetizers, etc. In fact, it's going to be so casual, I'm glad I didn't spend the time, or money, on a new dress. I'd been waiting for more information and thought I'd go shopping tomorrow, if needed. Scratch that.....save the $$. So it appears this "event" will pose no threat whatsoever to my WOE. (I WAS kind of hoping for some cake, though....LOL!)

Great idea & attitude, 75-80% is in the darn good range, just concentrate on now of it all & then for tomorrow, today will be yesterdays good day...anyway, glad to hear the wedding plans won't upset your WOE, I guess you will have to content yourself with dream cake instead of the real thing...maybe some low carb cookies will do the trick.

Glad you are feeling good and also great that the event on the week-end isn't going to cost you money or any angst. Cake - mmmm - yes please. But you can have a drink maybe instead.

GG....I definitely have some low-carb cookies in the freezer....and I LIKE them too! At slightly over 100 calories per cookie, I think I can maneuver enough foods to make room for at least 1.

Good deal on the wedding reception. Sounds like that takes a bit of worry away. You're so predictable with your walks, Sandy. Glad you're felling better today. Happy March.

Issy, yes, today's a better day. As far as drinks at the reception, however, it's an easy pass for me, as I don't drink. I found out the restaurant is a Mexican food one which has VERY little for me to eat there, according to their online menu. DH is considering going there for lunch and then staying there for this reception. I like the idea even though it means a "dumb ol' chicken Caesar salad" for me - UNLESS they happen to have a basic fresh catch....MMMMM! Keeping my fingers crossed!

Heather, I AM like a broken record....walk 3+ miles, walk 3+ miles, etc. Sadly, I've never gotten the urge to be in the gym, like you, although I do go every now and again. But this walking thing started out as just getting the dogs out more regularly and then it kind of took on a life of its own. Easy to do, gets the dogs out, no membership/class fees, no equipment needed, and I can even do it in darkness if I don't want to be seen....all in all, a pretty good fit for me. It doesn't burn as many calories as some other exercises and it takes too much time...but then again, who wouldn't like to burn 500 calories in about 10 minutes! LOL! Have a great weekend.

Look how much money you're saving, Sandy. You're the smart one. And the dogs LOVE you for it.. In NY, if I walk in the streets, I tend to windows shop, so it's not much of a walk. Haves wonderful weekend.

Nice to hear you are feeling a little better. Isn't it funny how some days are just better than others - wish there was something we could do to so we could have a "in the zone" day every day. Oh well - got to work with what we've got. Hope you have fun tonight.

Bren, not only am I not having cake, but I'm not having lunch there either. DH and I had thought to have lunch at this place ahead of the gathering, but this AM, he had second thoughts...hadn't slept well last night and wanted to change his schedule for today to fit in a nap! Fine by me, as the place is a Mexican restaurant and, believe me, there was exactly ONE thing on the entire menu that would have allowed me to stay on plan! The menu is so carb-laden, I couldn't have even ordered a meal and asked for some adjustments....it would have scrapped the entire entree! I guess that's why I haven't been to a Mexican restaurant since I-can't-remember-when. So, all in all, this event will really be a non-event.....just show up, say "congratulations," give them a gift, have a Diet Coke, and leave. Not a big deal at all....kinda sad about that, though.

Buffy, it WOULD be nice to be able to push an "In The Zone" button. For me....my zone percentage should have progressed a bit over these past couple days and it hasn't. My body's still not quite where it ought to be....may just need a bit more time to adjust.....we'll see. Hope you're having a good weekend!

sorry to hear your pup has a tender foot. Nice on concentrating on the moment. I know that if I look to far into the future, my brain get too clustered and confused.lol I guess that has a lot to do with age as well. sounds like you are going to have a great weekend. Enjoy!! Hope your having a wonderful evening.:)

Laurie, little by little, I think my Collie guy is getting over whatever the problem was/is. He didn't go walking yesterday (Sunday) and today I took him 2 miles with no bad effects - so far! We'll see if he can just ignore that foot as the evening goes on. If so, then I'll feel he's on the mend!
