Sandy701's Journal, 28 February 2013

Weight's coming down, but not where I'd expect it to be. Without going into TMI, I can also tell that my body's not in the zone. So, today will be a focus on keeping everything in line - right foods, no triggers, typical exercise, enough water - and we'll see how the ol' bod responds.

Exercise was the usual 3.1-mile walk; doggies along for just .8 mile to see how my Collie's foot holds up the rest of the day. It's still bothering him to some degree, although he's not limping, but I can't see anything that's a problem. I'll get him up on the grooming table this afternoon and take a really close look....he needs a moderate brushing anyway.

Food is planned and mixed up just a bit for a slightly different intra-day balance. I'd actually prefer to drop the strawberries right now, but I'm in the midst of eating a 2-pound container.....it was such a good buy this past weekend and they looked SO good, I just HAD to get them. With that quantity, however, I need to use them daily so they don't go bad before I can get to them. Yes, I COULD throw them away but I'm choosing not to. The strawberry smoothie recipe is one from the Atkins book (for OWL) and I have adjusted it, reducing the cream, deleting the vanilla, and reducing the whey protein. It works in my daily plan, but in a more strict meal plan, I probably wouldn't use it. I'll use these up and then won't buy any more, at least for awhile.

The "surprise wedding" I wrote about a few weeks back WILL happen this weekend. It's as I originally thought....it will be more of a surprise reception, than a surprise wedding. The couple is heading off to the JOP today. The reception occurs mid-afternoon, so I have NO idea what food, if any, might be served. I suppose it could just be cake and drinks. I'll have to play it by ear. It makes planning difficult and, of course, this comes at a point in time where I'd rather not do anything off-plan. I guess I have to decide if I want to stick to my plan, no matter what, or possibly go off-plan for a part of the day to accommodate this event.

I already feel like I'm fighting so hard to just get through each day right now, I don't know if I want to, or even have the strength to, fight through a cake temptation too. Well, I guess that's not quite true - I DO have the strength to go and not partake of any cake (such a rhyme!). What I need to realize is that I have choices.....I may not like all the choices, but I do have them. I could not go to this event, I could go but stay on plan and ignore the food there, or I could go and eat what they have (either just a bit or all of it). No one is forcing me any particular way....they're all choices that I can make.

Eat before you go, to help avoid the temptation. You are so right that it is a choice that we have to make. Just remember if you are like me, one bite of sugar makes me crave so much more and it is not worth it!! This doesn't get easier, we get stronger!!!

Hate that you are still struggling - somehow it just doesn't seem fair does it? As usual, no words of wisdom here. As I read journals I've noticed this winter has been hard on a lot of us. Maybe tomorrow will open a new chapter with the beginning of March. BTW - I would do the same thing with the strawberries - at least they are "real" food that will offer your body some nourishment (as opposed to cake). Best of luck with that surprise reception.

Your doing a great job, just keep eating the good, wholesome foods and things will work out. I'm stuggling to keep my carbs under 20. We just have to take one day at a time and keep trudging alone. Hope you had a great day and a wonderful evening.:)

BeaugezD, thanks for stopping by. Eating before I go is a good idea. The reception is right smack in the middle of the afternoon...just wish I knew what food plans they have, if any.

Buffy, it HAS been a rough winter for a lot of us, but hope "springs" eternal! Onward to March!

Laurie, keeping carbs at or below 20 is a tough assignment, so I feel for you there. But you've come so far - on your ENTIRE journey - that you can feel proud of that. Stay strong and you'll find your way back to where you want to be!
