They base that off of how much you lose in that week. So if you lost 5 pounds one week and you needed to lose 50 they would say it would take you 10 more weeks or 2 1/2 months....but if you lost 1 point the next week it would then say well you are now losing a pound a week so that previous estimate is now changed to 50 weeks or 15 or so months...It changes the estimate as you lose weight each week.

I just find it amusing how sporadic my weight loss has been. I've read a bunch of times on these boards that weight loss is not linear, but I didn't expect that it would be down a pound one day, up a couple ounces the next, down a half pound, down a couple ounces... and so on. Its just so random. I would have expected it to be more predictable. A lot of people have even posted that if you have a day where you "cheat" about every week or two then you can rev up your metabolism and lose even more... but I'm a little afraid to try it.

lol....I cheat sometimes...I mean what can I say..I'm me. So if you can avoid cheating do it. I am not a person that has much will power, so I'd rather give in to the small stuff before I explode on something regrettable. But all in all my weight loss does the same thing. I just stay at it because eventually my weight loss will reach what I need it to be after all is said and done.

Weight can flucuate A LOT due to water weight, time of day you weigh, etc. I find that to be the most accurate & consistent, I just weigh once a week (I like Saturday), I weigh first thing in the morning before I eat or drink anything, and I weigh-in wearing similar clothes each time (gym shorts & a t-shirt). Weighing every day can get you down, if you are down a couple one day then go up one the next. By weighing once a week, I find myself "sticking to it" just 'til that weigh-in. Then, I'll be down a couple (or at least holding steady) and that encourages me to keep with it until the next weigh-in. GOOD LUCK!

A note about the "Cheating". I limit the amount of cheating I do, and when I do, I keep the calorie count below my RDA. I had a friend many years ago that lost a tremendous amount of weight on "The Cheater's Diet". He stuck to his diet rigorously Monday through Saturday, but on Sunday, he could eat or drink whatever he wanted. Two things that he noted were 1) He could easily stick to his diet for six days, knowing that on Sunday he could have that Sundae or Milk Shake or Fried Chicken; 2) After a while, he didn't really crave the treats so much and couldn't eat as much when he did eat them. I've never tried this approach, but, as I said, it worked great for my buddy. There is more information on it at http://www.webmd.com/diet/features/the-cheaters-diet

My weight loss can sometimes be sporatic. I weigh in at a weight loss center that actually measures amount of fat loss. Some weeks I will loose 2 lbs of fat and then the next week I will lose 0.4 lbs of fat.

A friend of mine is doing some sort of diet which she takes weekends off. She says its kind of like two steps forward and one step back, but I think one day a week off, or maybe one meal a week off might be kind of fun. You could try to get a little bit of the bad stuff out of your system with just one special meal. Maybe some other time... I invested a fair amount of money in Medifast so I'm really trying to stick to it as much as I can at least while I have Medifast food. I think I'll stick to it for at least another order/month too just to make sure I give it a fair try. All that being said, I really tried to follow my diet tonight when I went out, but I think the "grilled fish" that I ordered was smothered in butter in spite of me asking them not to. I've felt kind of sick to my stomach since then. ugh.
