Checking into rehab -- I never thought of it in those terms before, but as a sugar addict, thats really what it is! After what began to feel like the beginning of a downward spiral which started while visiting my Mom & continued through the weekend, I came to the realization yesterday that another cleanse was in order & just what I needed before I really got off track. I'm celebrating 7 weeks sugar free & do not want to screw that up! But, I've been pushing the limits with too much fruit, unsweetened coconut & dried fruit. And, while shopping yesterday & reaching for extra, extra dark chocolate (which my health coach had also said was ok if in a bind), I knew it was time for drastic measures!
Luckily, my Guardian Angel sent me a link to a video called "Hungry for Change" which I finally watched & made me realize that I am a recovering addict & in need of another stint in rehab. I've been eating too much fruit & especially dried fruit high in sugar, which I need to look at after the cleanse, and instead eat more veggies & have fruit more sparingly. Of course, I also had to get the book which I'm reading now, so stay tuned for any other insights I come upon.
So, thats my story & for 4 days, I'll be sticking to it... a cleansing diet. On today's menu is Cucumber Juice; Green Juice with kale, collards, celery, cucumber & apple; Almond Nut Milk; Cantaloupe Soup; Lemonade; and a Green Smoothie with kale, avocado, cucumber, basil, ginger, lemon, hemp oil & kelp. I know its not for everyone, but its really a treat for me -- no cooking (will buy hubby his meals), planning, etc. I feel better already just having made the decision and begun the process, & will start my cleansing day 1 in prayer --
God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.
And, as I cleanse, I'll pray, breathe, post & express for this one day, meal, moment, drink or emotion at a time. (I won't try to log for these 4 days, but know calorie counts are between 1000-1500 per day.) xoxox

Hey Ruth - so true about the sugar. I have a book called the Sugar Addict and oh yes I have to watch any fruits because they will set me off down a slippery slope. Have a great day!

Angel Ruth - good for you. This rehab will be like a reboot ... sounds like a good plan.
