fatoldlady's Journal, 22 February 2013

Took the day off so I can take the dogs to see the vet. Baby Girl is due for her yearly check up and shots and Whitey is going to get his knees checked out. I hope everything is all right with him.

Got my bonus but after the tax man took his share its considerable smaller. Sometime I think I would rather not know the before tax amount.....it feel like I have been ripped off when I see how much less I actually receive. But still it was good, I put some money in my emergency fund, some against my land in BC, and the rest is to get some things I need like a new kitchen faucet and sink, a new chair and pay for Whitey's Xrays. Its going to be a busy shopping day tomorrow.

Wow sounds like a pretty great bonus to me. And just think of all the good your tax $$ are being spent on - okay never mind don't think about it. Best to the poochies and their vet visit...always a stressful day with that but I imagine your dogs do better than my cats with that.

Spent a couple of hours at the vets...he's a really good guy. Whitey has arthritis in both knees due to the TPLO surgery. He said this was to be expected, funny the surgeon that did it didn't mention this. But he has a plan, there are these injections into the muscle that can stop and possible even reverse some of the damage from the arthritis. It all natural, based on glycosomine, which I like. Using anti inflammitories and pain medication can wreck his stomach. It involves eight injections the first month and then another one every month or so. The problem is that I hate needles and not sure that I could inject him properly. The good thing is I have a friend who use to give his dogs their shots himself so I have a call into him to see if he is willing to do this. Good news is that there is no problems related to the pins and metal plate they put into his knees. The vet said it was a very good surgery and running around is not going to make any difference so I can let him run in the back field.

I'm so glad that there is something positive that can be done for him, even though it involves needles, ugh! Back in the olden days, I used to work for a veternarian and gave lots of shots. When it was under the skin, most of the time they didn't act like they even felt it, although I always cringed for them. :) Just today husband and son put in a new kitchen faucett for me after about 2 months dealing with a broken one. It is wonderful! Enjoy your shopping.
