It has been a busy week; but not awful. I like structure and routine sometimes because it helps me stay on track with food, too.
I have continued with intermittent fasting (IF) and I like it. It helps balance out the calories for the week and allows my mind and stomach to rest a day. At first, it seemed to help with losing weight...not sure now.
I made a decision that whatever the "Idiot Box" says each day is OK. I am not on a timetable anymore. I will continue to improve and lose at whatever rate my body allows. I am dedicated, determined, and diligent!
I have noticed I am really sensitive to sodium! Wow - if I have a day when it's a bit higher, I can really notice the difference. My rings are tight, I feel bloated, and seem cranky, too.
My scientist husband explained it to me...something about cells and water needing to balance the sodium so we bloat...blah, blah, blah.
Whatever it is, I don't enjoy it! And, ironically, the remedy is drinking lots of water! So drink away everyone!
Still grateful for:
- The people I love who love me back! - The good health of my loved ones - My FS Buddies who support and encourage me to continue - "Butt-kicking" myself to a smaller size today

Thanks for the info..I can tell when I have too much salt..usually after eating out..as I don't use a lot of it when I cook because of DH's high blood pressure..and yes we have to drink more water to flush it out..Have a great day...:O)

Drinking water as I read your entry. It seems like the day after I eat too much sodium is when I am really thirsty, so it makes sense, we need to flush it out. I like routine also. Have a great Thursday.

Drinking my third 20 oz bottle of water & brewing my second 16 oz cup of herbal tea; had TJ's turkey jerky. & kale chips for lunch, & dinner will have quite a bit of sodium, too. Raising my mug of peppermint tea to you!

Yeah, sodium can be a real bugger! I got up and got some more water when I read too. Always a good reminder.

I think we're all sensitive to sodium, HCB. And I hate that feeling of swollen fingers. There isn't a lot worse. And it's so easy to overdo it. My bf is Asian and that darned soy sauce (even gluten free-sodium reduced soy sauce) gets me every time. I think the key is just to have small amounts of the salty food. Good job monitoring it.

Sodium sure does through me through a loop! It feels so gross being bloated from it. Your DH is right and its a good thing to know, and just accept that it throws us off sometimes!

I think the RDA for sodium is 2400 mg, and I think that's about one teaspoonful. AHA recommends less than 1500 mg which is less than 3/4 tsp. Wow! Doesn't sound like much, does it? But, a little goes a long way, and sodium is in almost EVERYTHING we eat. Luckily for me, I'm not a huge fan of salt. A big day for me is usually still only 2400 mg. But I still drink my 3-4 liters of water, especially on "salty" days, because I hate that puffy feeling, too.
