Wow, back to "normal"! Son's headache is gone and that makes it easier to get back in the groove. I will be taking him to the neurologist today.

Yesterday, I wore a short sleeve shirt and it bothered me - it was not long before I donned a sweater to cover my "lunch lady arms". I have got to work on those. I don't picture myself with "guns" but I don't want to be embarassed, either. I have not worked out in over a week, but I need to return to it.

The diet aspect of my life journey is still on course. I laugh when people watch me make my lunch salad and ask, "salad again?" Yes! This is a life change for me. Why does salad get such a bad rap? I never ask them, "what? french fries again?" We are so spoiled! My father ate the same lunch every day - bologna sandwich, potato chips, and an apple. Never had a weight issue. Of course, he was a plumber for new schools, hospitals, etc. but the same thing every day has benefits.

It is my daughter's 15th birthday this weekend. I need to get excited for it and give her her "due". She has been kind of dragging as of late - there was so much going on with her brother that she probably felt lost in the shuffle.

I had my annual review with my boss yesterday. Kind of a non-event given that I would be surprised if he was actually critical of my work. I did tell him that I was disappointed that I had been promoted to a managerial position last April during our re-organization, but received no compensation for it. I want to move to the next tier in my position (level 1 to level 2). Of course, it is now my responsibility to research the requirements. I guess that is what makes him the boss - delegation....

Must get going! Have a good day one and all!

Paula - I'm behind on your journals, please forgive me. You make a good point about the 'salad' comment ~~ I was at a trade show this weekend and packed a lunch box w/tuna, celery, quacamole, and almonds. Everyone else had ordered pizza. I have no problem with them eating pizza but *I* became the object of ridicule about 'ooo, tuna ...' It's baffling to me WHY there is ALWAYS ridicule for anyone who doesn't go along with the 'herd' and I'm not using that as a 'weight' comment. When I'm obese, there is ridicule, even from other obese. When I'm trying to be healthy and EAT WHAT I WANT when others are doing the same - eating what THEY WANT - I am the ridicule again. Maybe I'm just a magnet for jerks??? Working backward after getting my own rant out, LOL - I will always have the bingo arms, bat wings, whatever ... so I'll never be able to wear anything shorter than a 3/4 length sleeve without being a threat to small children on a windy day, LOL. So good on you that you'll be able to tighten that up with exercise. By no means am I glossing over your son feeling better ~~~ YAAAAAAY!!!!!~~~ I know that HAS to be relief for you but you're not off my prayer list that easy, kiddo. And what have you decided for the daughter's BD?? You're right - she has been fabulous for a teenager. I would be conflicted between an adult type gift (jewelry) or a party at something like Shenanigans to celebrate a part of her childhood she may have missed the past couple of months being your helper. So I'm curious which direction you'll go (( nosy huh )). As for the zero pay increase but more responsibility - I feel ya. I went nearly six years with new positions and responsibilities in CorpAmerica without a pay increase. Things are tough all over but in some cases they only oil the squeaky wheel ~~ as long as they don't have a spare in the trunk though.
