amyf19's Journal, 21 June 2008

Last Saturday and Sunday I didn't eat very well. I was up 5 lbs. this past Monday morning, which I expected, because I had eaten enough carbs and sugar to make me retain that much water. But all week I've done great eating, and I've worked out every day. I should have been all the way back down, and maybe even another pound gone by now, but I'm not. I'm annoyed. I looked up online some comments about the Mirena IUD and weight gain, and every single person said that they gained, or at the very least had a terrible time losing weight after they got one. I've had one for about 1 1/2 months, and I've been doing everything right to lose this baby weight. After reading these comments, I'm disappointed because a big reason I got a Mirena was because it was supposed to have no effect on my weight. I'm also challenged, because no matter what my hormones are doing, if I eat like I should and work out like I should, I physically cannot continue to weigh what I weigh now. There's no way. So I'm going to be the one who doesn't let that thing beat me. I just know it may be a little harder. Mind over matter.

I have been "weighing" my options on birth control too. But I just don't want anything that is going to slow my weight loss process. Seems like most of them do cause a weight gain, or atleast make losing that much harder. I guess that is better than another 9 months of gaining!! Haha. I gained 50 plus pounds with both my kids. Ugh!! Still losing baby weight from baby #2 and he is almost 18 months old!

Hi, I just saw your journal entry on the Homepage and had to comment! My doctor recently suggested I switch my birth control to either Mirena or the Depo shot (I am currently on the Evra patch and I really like it but have been having some irregular bleeding) but I found the same thing when I looked it up online! I was so disappointed! I noticed that the Mirena website says that it has less of an effect on weight than other birth control methods but there were real people everywhere saying it does. UGH! Anyway I'm stuck because I'm definately not going on the depo shot either! One of my good friends is a pharmacist and when I asked her about it she said she wouldn't recommend it as it can lead to osteoporosis which is bad enough on its own, but it can also take up to two years to get your fertility back. Anyway, just wanted to comment because I'm annoyed about the Mirena thing too, I mean I didn't actually go on it yet and I'm lucky that I read peoples comments online before I made a decision but the company should be honest and say "may lead to weight gain" or whatever because obviously that is whats happening!
