ctlss's Journal, 19 February 2013

and I am still plugging along. First, let me thank all of you for your thoughts, prayers, and support on the anniversary of Jessica's death. It means a lot. I really did have a very good day, and only cried 2 times! That is really, really good. However, I am in a chronic fatigue episode of the Lupus, and have been sleeping...ALOT. Sunday we came home from church and Jacob (my youngest) and his sweet wife, Annie, came over and helped me do fence repair. There were several sections with broken posts, and a place where the hunters had cut the wire, and of course, the black lab mix, Toby, found it. He has been sneaking out early in the morning and harassing my poor BIL when he gets home from work at 6:30ish. It's fixed now, but in the process of getting to it and doing the repair, I fell several times...thank goodness I was wearing quilted coveralls, and they cushioned my falls. After we came inside and the kids left, I went to bed and diodn't wake up until almost 9 pm...kind of a wasted afternoon. I did the same thing yesterday, and today I stayed in bed until about 10:30 then laid down at 1 and took an hour nap. I had to go today and have my eyes looked at, as the last 3 days when I woke in the morning, my left eye was very foggy, like I was looking through a gauzy veil. Everything looked okay, but the vision has worsened significantly in the last 2 months, so they are changing out the lens in my glasses for that eye, and didn't charge me a penny for the exam or the new lens...I love my eye doc! I am supposed to use my steroid drops for the next 10 days, and if it continues, then I need to go to a specialist. This is most likely tied to my Lupus as well. May just be due to the flare...we shall see!

We are due to get a snow and ice storm on Thursday, so this afternoon we went to town, got more wood for the fireplace, charcoal for the grill, a new snow shovel, and lots of fresh veggies.

We are now sitting here, listening to Electric Light Orchestra, cooking stuffed mushrooms on the gas grill and when they are done rotisserizing a roast. I am also having a beer, something I haven't done in a very long time. Not a big fan of beer, but the Bid Platinum is pretty good, although a bit loaded with carbs...4.4 grams per bottle. As soon as I get this roast on the spit, we are going to play a hot game of Rummy.

As I stated we are due to have a winter storm come Thursday. I am hoping they get it right. I love the snow, but with this storm they are saying some sleet and freezing rain. We are stocked and ready to go, so bring it on!

Tomorrow I am going down to mom's to take her to the eye doctor, and while I am there, my friend (the one that fixed baby's window motor) is going to replace the outside door handle on the driver's door of Beuhla (or Bertha as Dan calls her). Saturday we have a couple's dinner at the church and will be playing The Newlywed Game. DH is a bit nervous about this...lol I told him we have been married 31 1/2 years...he'll do fine!

Well, that's about all the news that's fit to print from my corner...hope all is well in your's!

Glad to hear nothing worse happened while you were fixing the fence, and glad to hear you have gotten some rest! Keep resting and hope you have an uneventful snowstorm!

Hi Stef, sorry to hear you are in the midst of a flare up, and that your eyesight isn't so good. You have so many who depend on you, it must be a bit overwhelming. I am always so glad to read your journals. Even though I sense a sadness behind your chatter you are still here and still getting on with things. So many people right now are struggling with various issues, myself included, blame it on the weather. Yes we are due snow in the forecast - this seems like a long winter to me though it didn't really start until January. Bah humbug - lol. Big hugs 'sis'.

Heather, God love you...please don't worry, although to those who don't understand the flares it sounds serious, it is just part of Lupus. I will get better, I promise. The eye was much better this morning when I got up, and that is a good thing. Steroid eye drops work really well. I do love ELO...thanks so much for caring, Heather...it means the world! Love you my friend, hugs!

Bren, the fence had to be done...that silly dog keeps getting out and terrorizing my brother in law and the neighbors. lol I am so blessed to have children that will come and help me when I have these things to do. Dan is great as well. He helped me with the posts that aren't in the woods. I intend to spend the snow storm resting...sitting here, with a crackling fire, enjoying the silence that God blankets the earth with when it snows. I am constantly amazed at how God can take something as simple as rain and turn it into something as beautiful as snow! Have a great Thursday...love you, my sweet sister friend! HUGS!

Dani, it was actually rather comical...it was a slow motion slide to the ground! lol I am still resting, and will continue to until I get past this flare. I will be staying home, safe and warm. :)

Isabel, this too shall pass. I hate it when I have a flare, but that's just the way my life goes...at least I know what to do to help lessen the impact. And yes, this time of year there is an undercurrent of sadness. This shall also pass. I love you my friend, and thank you so much for your support...it means more than you know. HUGS, and hope your snow storm isn't too bad. :)

Sorry to hear about the flare up. Chronic ailments are always hard to live with. And the loss of eyesight is scary. I will envision you all warm and cosy against the weather and feeling better day by day.
