GONNA FIX THE WINDOW...

...so the window motor in Baby went out. Yesterday, I went to the parts store and bought a new one and after a bit of research, decided I could change it out. I grabbed my tools (drill, screwdrivers, socket set) and headed out into the sunny afternoon and got to work. I took the inside panels off the door, got the switch box disconnected, and then hit a stumbling block. The old motor is riveted in and I could drill them out, but the motor is sandwiched between the metal sheets on the door, and the only access is a hole just big enough for my hand to fit in. Now, if I could see what I was doing, I could change that puppy out in about an hour. But, since I can't, I called a mechanic friend. He is going to change it for me today for the very reasonable cost of $50. I will be headed down there in a bit, and while he does that, I will walk across the street and visit with mom. I was seriously disappointed that I couldn't do the job...I really like working on cars, but I do get frustrated easily. lol Since I couldn't get that job done I decided to tackle replacing the cigarette lighter so I can have a phone charger in the car. WELLLLL...it is some weird lighter that has a center post connector with a housing that goes all the way around it. Needless to say I couldn't fix that either...can you say FRUSTRATED??? I did however tighten up some of the screws in the dash that worked loose travelling this gravel road all the time and I gave her a good vacuuming. By the time I got done with all that, the afternoon was gone. I truly enjoyed being outside in the sunshine and 55 degree weather, even though I wasn't able to get the projects done that I wanted to. Next car project...replacing the outside driver's door handle on the van. The kid that has been helping us out, broke it off when we had the ice. He bought the replacement, but has some health issues going on, so I told him I would install it. We shall see...sure hope it's not like the 94 Olds! lol

Food yesterday was good, but the calories were a bit low. I had about 1200 for the day, but I burned 2100 according to Fitbit, but it was on the charger for the first 3 hours I was up, so actually burned a bit more than that. Today is bbq day...we will be bbqing some yummy meat to eat for dinner tonight and over the next few days for breakfast and lunch.

Well, that's all the news that's fit to print from my corner...hope all is well in yours!

I am off to answer your comments from yesterday and visit your journals!

TTFN!

You always amaze me with your mechanical abilities. I thought I was doing well when I figured out how to check the oil in my car.

OMG Fixblocked!! That would frustrate me, too! Unfortunately, I don't seem to be as handy as you are!! Maybe I need to have you live here (scratches chin thoughtfully...) hmmmm! LOL At least you have a guy who can do the work for you and very reasonably priced! GO STEPH! Happy Weekend!

You go girl! I ran into a woman who didn't know how to jump a car, every women should at LEAST know how to do that and change a tire LOL. Hope baby gets fixed soon. I had an electrician over yesterday to give me an estimate on a 3 way switch I am stuck on, his estimate over 400 bucks. I was like WHAT... Then I decided, I was going to figure this out. This is our domestic engineering, haha.

I'm laughing Stef ... can you hear me??? Oh I am so independent sometimes I scare myself. I moved an elliptical machine I have from upstairs to downstairs one day, several years ago, while no one was home without disassembling it!! At one point the dogs (we had two then) were looking at me from upstairs (because the elliptical was wedged half way down the stairs) like I had lost my mind. But by golly, by jeepers I got it done before anyone got home and I didn't break anything (on me or in the house!!!). Have a great day my dear ... a lovely evening ... my mechanically inclined (even if frustrated), inventive, determined, risk-taking, beautiful friend. Love you dearly!!

Bren, so do I...probably from watching my dad do those things when I was a kid. I love getting my hands dirty! Just wish that the cars these days were easier to work on. Have a great weekend...love you, my friend!

Dani, I love being able to work on my own equipment, and with Google all things are possible (if you have the right tool)! lol I am glad I have a guy that is willing to finish the job I started...Have an awesome weekend!

Lizzy, I agree...I think along with Home Ec in high school, there should be a semester dedicated to basic car service and maintenance for everyone to take. As for the electricity...I do that. My dad was an electrician, so I can do most simple wiring jobs, like installing light switches, outlets, ceiling fans...things like that! Google that project and you should be able to do it yourself...just be sure to flip the breaker off before you start, or it might be a shocking experience! ;) Have a great weekend!

Carol...I am the same way, and when I accomplish a really tough project, one that really tries to stymie me, I always shout "I WIN!!" lol I can see you man handling that elliptical and the dogs...mine look at me like I've lost my mind a lot of the time! lol Have a stupendous weekend, my determined, awesome, independent friend. Love you bunches!
