erica47's Journal, 11 February 2013

I've been wanting too lose weight for about three years now. I even did pretty well and got close to 200 lbs at one time, but I let food get the best of me. I really like eating whatever I want. I found myself thinking it was ok to go to McDonald's or Taco Bell because I'm 246 lbs, so I'm fat I can eat whatever I want. I can't lie I enjoyed it. If I could eat fast food the rest of life without consequenses I totally would.
Over the past year my sleeping has been affected by my weight. I never thought being obese would catch up to me. I have to sleep upright or I have trouble breathing. That is so scary to me. Before I was just so worried about my looks, but being overweight is so much more than that.

I felt that way when I was pregnant about it not really mattering. But afterwards I really struggled with it mentally. It is a lot of hard work but worth it! Just keep making that homemade food and you will reach your goals in no time. :)

Welcome to FatSecret and thanks for the buddy request! It might take some time, but once you start eating cleaner you won't even want to go near a fast food joint. Your profile said you were hoping to run a 5K by summer. Any ideas on how you are going to train?

@iamachristianjesusfreak, I still crave the fastfood, but I'm really enjoying looking up new recipes and trying stuff out. @the blue box (Doctor Who reference?) I think for now I'm going to focus on a mile at a time. For this month I'd like to run a mile nonstop. Last time on the treadmill I got about 1/4 mile...which is way farther than I though I could make!

After you eat healthy for a while once you taste theirs you will realize your food tastes much better. Really good recipes go look at allrecipes .com or heandsheeatclean .com or even thegraciouspantry .com I am sure you will love them all! Just watch your intake with all that yumminess!

Wanting to learn to run? Check out C25K. There is a treadmill version too, which is what I use. Last summer I could barely run for 30 seconds. I did C25K last fall and did my first 5K in November. I didn't run all of it but I completed it. Last month I started going through the program again. In March I will be finished with the program and am signed up for another 5K March 16. Hubs and I are going to do a fun run 5K in June. He doesn't run but we are planning on walking and I might run around a little. I strongly recommend the C25K. It is another one of those things that jump started my weight loss again. Got to break through those plateaus!

I really think it's great. I did get to running 30 minutes solid last fall. I didn't stick with it though and it was around the holidays so I lost some of what I built up. However, this time around I am finding it easier. I am doing Week 5 Day 2 tonight on the treadmill. I think there is another app for beyond C25K. I will have to check it out when the time comes!
