WHAT A WEEKEND...

Saturday we did some chores around the house, then went to mom's for a game of Rummy. First we stopped and got gas, ran to the grocery store and picked up the flowers and cookies for church on Sunday, returned some movies, then stopped at the church to drop off previously mentioned cookies and flowers, along with the Valentine's goodies for the kiddos. We were a little later than usual getting to mom's, but we still had a great time. We played most of a Rummy game, and at this point the score is really close. We will finish it up on Wednesday. After we got home we watched a bit of TV while I got the coffee pots ready to go on Sunday morning, loaded my bag with the other things that need to go to church, and then had some supper. We got to bed around 12, which is pretty good. I set the alarm and the timer on our coffee pot so it would be ready for drinking when I got up in the morning.

Sunday morning, Dan woke me at 7:20! I had seriously overslept and only had 40 minutes to get ready, fill the coffee dispensers (thank goodness, Dan had awakened at 6 and started the big percolator), get dressed, and load the van. I had inadvertently set both my alarm to PM and forgotten to turn on the automatic timer on the drip pot, soooo overslept and no coffee made. I was really glad that the big pot was made and that I was able to grab a cup from there for Dan and I. Church service was awesome. I always learn so much from listening to Pastor Mark teach. The kids loved their Valentines and I got lots and lots of hugs! I LOVE THE KIDDOS!

Last night was ladies night out at church and we went to Olive Garden. Did I splurge? Yep...did I really blow it all out...meh, not really considering it is a pasta restaurant. I had grilled, herbed salmon with red peppers and broccoli, a small side salad with no dressing, a small bit of minestrone, and split an order of stuffed mushrooms 3 ways. Then came dessert...I love dessert and never eat it, but last night my friend Mary and I split a piece of raspberry swirl cheesecake...it was amazing! I had it with a cappuccino! It was a great time of fellowship with 13 of the ladies from church, who are truly awesome! Am I sorry that I splurged? NO! Life is to be lived, and this is where Pastor Mark's wife chose to have the dinner. I did, however, suggest that next time we go bowling! Exercise and food! :)

I got home about 9 pm, with leftovers for Dan...I only ate 1/2 the salmon and salad (only a couple of bites of soup, but couldn't bring it home for Dan). We watched a bit of TV and played a game of Rummy...Dan won! Then I decided I wanted some popcorn. I love stovetop popcorn. So I made some, ate about 3 cups, and bagged up the rest for Dan to munch on while he reads.

All in all it was a good weekend. I didn't do perfect with my food, but I did okay. Exercise was, as has been the norm as of late, just what I did around the house. Nothing structured.

Well, that's about all the news that's fit to print from my corner...hope all is well in yours!

TTFN!

Yeah... Sounds like a great weekend. Nothing like some social interaction to get you motivated.

Pam, it was fun! I don't do a lot of those types of things, simply because my best friend is here at home. That being said, it was a really nice time, and I am really glad I went!

Lovely weekend Stef! Your meal at Olive Garden sounds delish, and I think you did pretty well considering what kind of temptation they have there!

Sounds like a wonderful weekend and I really enjoy reading about it...you are a good writer. I agree with BuffyBear that you probably didn't splurge that much at all. Your church sounds wonderful. I am sure that you are quite a blessing to all.

Anne, I had a great time, and I thought I did well. I didn't eat the salad that has the house dressing or any breadsticks....that was really hard! Hope you are doing well!

Heather, I really enjoyed the salmon and the cheesecake! I rarely eat out, and even more rarely at Olive Garden...I love pasta, but it really doesn't like me (carb wise). Last time was at a ladies night out for church in December 2011. LOL I will let you know about the Rummy game...I am sure mom will win. Hope all is well with you, in spite of the stress you have right now! HUGS!!

Bella, it was a great weekend! The salads there are excellent, but the house dressing is too high in carbs for my lifestyle, especially as much as I love salad and the amount I can eat! Have a great week!

Thank you so much Gwen. I really enjoyed the dinner out, and was happy that I had a controlled splurge! Control is not something I have been able to exert when it comes to food for most of my life. I love my church...it is filled with such wonderful people. Have a great week!
