As you may know from my constant whining, February has not been a good month for me. I was about ready to call my insurance company to see if they'd pay for a Psychiatrist.
At first, I blamed my craving for sweets on the protein shakes, but when I gave up the protein shakes I still had the same symptoms. And this morning I finally figured out why. I had bought some cinnamon coffee for work and had been adding sweetener! Let's see, artificial sweetener in the protein shakes & artificial sweetener in the cinnamon coffee - DUH! That sweet taste is what has been making me crave more sweets.
Atkins Induction will serve as a detox this weekend (no counting calories). Then Monday will go back on "The Plan". BTW - somehow I'd forgotten that "The Plan" did not allow for sweeteners. Somebody smack me!

Good for you, Buffy, for figuring it out! I've been amazed & pleasantly surprised at how the cravings have almost totally gone away since the cleanse that I did & staying sugar & sweetener free since then. it's been almost 4 weeks now & I feel great. I'm still not sure I'll eat this way forever, so I'm just taking it one day at a time. My health coach friend says if I can make it to the 6 week mark, that is the place that seems to make a difference in most people. Thinking of you, my friend! xoxox

Ruth - Can't believe how stupid I was to let all that artificial flavor and sweetener creep back into my life. Congrats on staying clean for 4 weeks. Am sure you will make it to that 6 week point. Thanks again so much.

I use spenda all day. Some in coffee, some in lemon juice and water to make lemonaid, doesn't bother me, let me know if it works...

Lizzy - I had given up sweetening my coffee over a year ago and had good results. We'll see if this helps - or maybe I do need that trip to the Psychiatrist.

Erika - when I used to use it I was shocked at how much I was consuming. I dropped it cold turkey. You'd be surprised how sweet "real food" starts tasting after a while.

so funny, Buffy dear. Call a psychiatrist? If you needed one, than we need one big mental hospital to house all of us. Well done on getting rid of the sweetener. I'm sure it will make a HUGE difference.
