tford1123's Journal, 01 February 2013

I know I have written down that I am following atkins, but I guess I'm really not. I let myself have lowcarb yogurt sometimes as well as lowcarb torillas. The major difference though is that I am allowing myself to have a day off 1 day a week. I know it might make my progress slower, but I need to find a way to make this for life. Its not realistic for me to say I will ever have mashed potatoes again or cake so instead of feeling like a failure when I do and then give up, I want to rid the guilt by saying its okay sometimes. I have a friend who is now starting her second year of a low carb lifestyle & her & husband have lost 60lbs (started much smaller than I) and kept it off doing it this way. I've decided that I don't care if it takes 1 year or 5 to loose the weight, I'm going to keep going.
319.4 lb Lost so far: 0 lb.    Still to go: 159.4 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

Diet Calendar Entry for 01 February 2013:
196 kcal Fat: 10.08g | Prot: 17.86g | Carb: 7.67g.   Lunch: cod fish. more...

Good attitude. BTW, Atkins himself wrote that the low carb versions of foods (like the tortillas you mention) are a good way to stay on course (except in induction). He has recipes in his books that use low carb baking mixes and such. So I say go for whatever works for you and be happy, healthy and not worry about what name you give your WOE. Just don't let those "once in a while" treats sneak up on you and become the norm. Have a pleasant Friday!

That's the way to do it. Many people do carb cycling where they have higher and lower carb days. They may not lose as fast as induction, but it helps them learn to control carbs and still live. You need to be able to live while you lose and sometimes that means having a glass of wine or or something high carb once and a while. Good luck!

Well it helps (so far) that my day off is the same day each week, that way I can't flip flop during the week. I actual went to a potluck and took a piece of dessert home and put it in my freezer so if I still wanted it on my day off I could have it ad not feel horrible. Guess what? The dessert is still in there.
