mntwinsfan's Journal, 30 January 2013

I have a goal to get through next wed without going over my calories (I'll record everything) and getting to the gym everyday. It has to continue past wed, but I just need to give myself a week to see the results of staying on track.
I always make goals to be a certain weight by a certain date, and I have yet to reach any of those goals. I don't want may to get here and I'm still 250 lbs.

You can do it. I know you can. Setting your goals is a great start, refusing to accept excuses is a big step. You can do it!

Totally just focusing on a week is the right thing to do. A year ago, when I first found out I had diabetes, I was shocked. I went home from the doctor and somehow immediately became serious about wanting to do better. I packed my lunch to work for the rest of the week - I got diagnosed on a Tuesday, and I packed my lunch for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. I remember I had pasta, regular pasta on that Wednesday, thinking I was eating so healthy. My blood sugar was 179! I was also eating Shredded Wheat and milk for breakfast, and my blood sugar was over 200! It took me that whole week to try to figure out something I could eat that was okay and wouldn't raise my blood sugar. The next week, I just bravely told myself that I would try to do decently this week, not just for calories, but for carbs. It was that week that I got back on Fat Secret. I felt like I had to. Anyway, I was able to make it a week, and that gave me the strength to try another week. Just totally focus on one day, one week at a time and you'll be successful and your little successes will inspire you to keep going for it.

Thanks! I keep telling myself if I can just get through one week I'll be ok.

One day at a time, one meal at a time, whatever works for you. :) You just have to realize you are worth the effort! Sure it might stink not being able to eat what you want right now, but the health benefits you gain in the long term will be worth it. I know you can do it; you just need to stick with your goals. If you don’t mind me asking, what makes you fall off track? Do you lose motivation or is it cravings that turn into overindulgence? For me it's the ladder of the two.

Lots of times its cravings....I do so well in the morning, but after lunch ALL I think about is food. It's so rediculous.

In my opinion you need to eat more lean protein to help keep you full longer and less processed food. For example eat a few eggs and whole wheat toast for breakfast. chicken, brown rice and some veggies for lunch. Maybe some turkey and salad for supper. A little fruit, yogurt or nuts for snack. Try something like this for a few days and see if it helps. Processed foods do not give you the nutrients you need. Maybe check out pages like heandsheeatclean .com Message me if you need anything. I really want to help you feel better

iamachristianjesusfreak brings up some excellent points. Natural foods do tend to keep you fuller for longer. I'm not sure what your current eating habits are now, but you could try spacing out your meals more. Maybe that would help curb the cravings? I'm just like you in the thinking about food department! I'm pretty sure one hour after lunch I'm dreaming about what I'm going to make for dinner!

I don't think I could space mine... Like every 3- 3 1/2 hours I am hungry again. That is why I take a day and make a bunch of stuff ahead. Like cook up a lot of chicken, roasted veggies and rice. Then I just weigh out and record what i am going to eat that way I know before I put it in my belly. You might not believe me but I LOVE FOOD! Just had to figure out how to cook healthy so it loves me. :)
