Doing well - haven't posted in a long while. Allergies bad today a lot of dandelion-like stuff floating around today. So I can't go out for a walk. I've added carbs like brown rice and sometimes wheat bread as I've been able to exercise at times. I will definitely join a gym by autumn. I'm not certain whether or not to renew my nursing license, it is due to expire, I haven't practiced in 13 years. It is only good in California and I doubt that I will ever live there again - it is a military LVN (LPN) license. I currently live in Massachusetts in my birth town. I'm trying to tell others I know the benefits of no sugar, and one woman her boyfriend said no white foods, I said it's true, except for maybe eggs occasionally. Milk and cream are OK too once one has lost the weight I suppose too, but she starves herself for two days then pigs out on sugary stuff and is fairly thin, and my close friend is overweight and is big on overeating sugar and wants to lose weight but won't listen and I'm sick of giving advice that is falling on deaf ears. This afternoon I'm going to tell her I'm not going to give her any more advice on what she eats. She's doing it on purpose to stir up stuff and there's no need for it. Happy Atkins way of life everyone - this is the way to go! Lean meats and healthy veggies for me and I'm hardly ever hungry and I have nuts for a snack instead of donuts and pizza! :) Glenn

You are awesome, my friend! I can't even imagine what Dr. Atkins went through, trying to get anybody to believe him about this way of eating! I DO tell people about it and how well it works, but when they say, "yeah, but . . ." then I just quit. Not worth the breath! It's tough to watch them struggle, though. They MAY pay more attention as each of us loses weight and is successful! or not!

You know what - the point is that it is not your struggle anymore. So let it go. It is now theirs. You had yours and you educated yourself and became healthier and now you don't have to have that struggle ever again. So don't volunteer for it. It's just too frustrating!! I think that's awesome that you are working in some whole grains. That is fantastic!!

I do think you should keep up your license. i regret giving up my EMT certification. We are fairly young to think we may never use them again. Everyone thinks they know better on diets. I have people say I am not on a healthy diet but they should have seen my last one. Everyone has to learn for themselves and sadly most don't learn at all. Keep up the great work.

Oh I really think you should renew your license also. It is always a good thing to keep up with. You never know if you may have to fall back on it. You worked hard at one time to earn it so try to remember that! If you were 60 years old then you could maybe let it go but you are still young. I am not so sure about the friend who pigs out after a couple days of being good. Sounds like a problem there! Your other friend will come around when they are ready. If not, then they have done this to themselves. Just be there when they ask for advise but do not offer it freely.

Doing well dieting... I think I will get the license renewed. I'm not 100% sure. I didn't have to go to nursing school to get it but got it from being in the Air Force. But an LVN (LPN) license is something I can use if I ever move back to CA. It's only good in that state since it's a military license. For now I'm in no hurry to move back to California but who knows where I'll be in 6 or 7 years? I may want to go back and I can take a refresher course and if I can't handle full-time maybe a few 12 hour shifts a week will be OK. I'm trying to talk myself into not letting this license go I guess! :)
