I am 53 years old and lost 20 lbs.in the past 9 months by skipping snacking between meals and reducing portion size. I am happy to maintain my current weight but I just learned I have very high cholesterol 306, with my "bad cholesterol" at 195. I also just learned my blood pressure is roo high, putting me at risk for heart attack or stroke. I started cholesterol lowering meds yesterday (1-25-13) and am not happy about it. I participate in high impact aerobic exercise 5x per week for 50 minutes with 20 minutes strength training and 5 minutes flexibility training, and have since my early 20s. I am FREAKED out as I thought I was taking good care. Two non- negotiables: I will not stop drinking beer, nor will I give up shellfish, as these are two of my greatest joys. I do restrict beer drinking to weekends in an effort to stave off alcoholism. I hope to avoid heart attack or stroke.
