Good morning FS members! Happy Saturday to you!

Time for my monthly assessment of my progress. 5 months. 22 weeks. Down 42 pounds. Down 5 pant sizes (I don't wear many dresses!) I didn't take inital measurements, but since Istarted, I have lose just over 14 inches in girth (I measure at 5 points and leave my extremeties out of my numbers). Over 30 points shaved off my triglyceride and cholesterol numbers. Blood sugar normal instead of borderline.

Those are some great accomplishments. So why do I feel that it just isn't enough?

Truth be told, I was hoping to be further along my weight loss path. During January, I kind of stalled with the scale number going down. Weight loss is something I had begun to count on and nearly take for granted. I had plateaued before, but it was after a big loss. It made sense.

I try to set manageable goals in the hopes of keeping myself as motivated as possible. I would like to be at my goal weight by my birthday in 10 weeks. I am still 25 pounds away. If I use past performance as a predictor, then my goal is unachievable. I think that is why I am so disappointed with January thus far. If I keep going at this rate, there is no way I can make it. I want to ensure that non-achievement of a goal doesn't send me into a tail spin.

So what to do.... Do I alter my goal? Make it something I can achieve? Hmmm. I think I will leave it for now and re-assess at 6 months into this journey. I am working out more. My dietary choices are where they need to be. Maybe the plateau has screwed up my calculations and maybe I can get there. Only time and my dedication to my plan will tell.

Paula, I swear, you're reading my THOUGHTS. I was thinking as I dressed this morning I haven't done my 'small subtle progess' list in a month and here YOU've gone and done YOURS and I'll feel like a copycat! LOL - I'm glad you did it because by the time I got out here to my computer I'd forgotten again. Anyway - WHAT AN INCREDIBLE accomplishment in five MONTHS! Especially with all that you deal with in the rest of your life - you totally ROCK! Good for you for taking care of YOU while you took care of everything else. I have NO worries that you'll go into a tailspin - you are too strong and smart. You inspire me everytime I read your journals and make me proud to be one of your friends.
