kingkeld's Journal, 26 January 2013

Good morning!

It's Saturday morning, and I took the plunge and did a weigh-in. I woke up "feeling thin", so I dared to take a peek.

It turns out that I am at 90.7 kgs - not as low as I'd like to be, but not as high as I feared. I'll take it.

I did great yesterday again, I stuck to my 1400 calories. Well, I went 16 over, but I think I can live with that.

Today is Indulgence Day. I won't totally abuse it, but I will enjoy it and take an extra Indulgence here and there should I feel like it. I do want to keep control of the whole thing, so no candies or sugars as such are allowed. I can do this.

This will be a short journal. Tiny keyboard on my substitute laptop is annoying, and Wife and I are hanging and enjoying a quiet weekend morning. Just wanted to check in and weigh in.

I wanted to say thank you for giving your input on the pedometers. I had a super cheap one, and it was junk. Now it got wet and died.

Reading about your suggestions, I see that they all look great, but have things that I can't go with. One being a LOT of money, others being only apple compatible. So if I do take the plunge, it'll be for the Fitbit One, I think. I see the mentioning of a bracelet version, this one I haven't found. I think that would be smart, but I am not sure how it would actually count steps and not just hand movements. I stand still all day at work, but I move my hands so I am a little concerned that this will show a wrong picture. Any thoughts?

Today, I'm thankful for:
- Weighing in and not being discouraged by the number. I'm on my way.
- Weekend!
- Wife!
- Morning Coffee and good movies!

Life is good!

Soon be in the 80's again KK. I am looking at a Garmin Foreunner 910XT.... Pretty pricey.... But it measures swimming as well as jogging/running, and cycling - so will suit me. I did look at the fitbit, but as I swim a lot, I would also have to buy a swim watch.... Mind you, the fitbit does measure you ALL day... The one I am looking at, is really just for exercise periods.

I hear the bracelet version is not out yet, KP, but is imminent. I bought my sister a FitBit for Christmas, with Bren's help (BHA). My sister is completely gadget challenged and she LOVES it. She wants the bracelet one, so I put myself on the notification list on the site. Ave a great day. And congrats on the weighin,

Skinny, I like the Garmin, but as you say it's not an "all-day" gadget. He lewis, I too Hebe signed up on the website. Looks like a route I'd like to go. I'm nervous too see how much they'll charge in Europe. New gadgets tend to cost as am and a leg...

I have been doing some more research, after looking at the the Garmin Forerunner 910XT..... I looked up the 'Fitbit flex' (due out in Spring 2013). That was the one you mentioned I think..... Also the 'Misfit Shine', again due out in Spring... This one is waterproof, so monitors swimming. And it is a lot cheaper than the Garmin, plus you seem to be able to use it for any sport, don't think it has a sleep activity like the fitbit though. Might be worth you taking a peek at that one

Those Fitbit type things interest me, but I don't like having stuff stuck to me. With the exception of my watch. Keep us posted!
