So the van's fuel pump was on the fritz, and my friend from church came out to check it. In the process of doing that, we discovered that the brake line had a hole in it, so the van is not operative right now. We spent most of the day yesterday working on the vehicle trying to get it to the point where we had at least one up and running (the convertible needs front struts). After discovering that the brake line had a hole in it, but getting the van running, I called the tow company and AAA and started the process of filing a complaint. Today the tow company came out and looked at it and discovered a rock between the brake line and the frame. I called a shop and they said it would be $100 to fix the brake line, and another $350 for the front struts on the car. The tow company towed the van to the shop for free, so I was happy about that. We ran up there with our studded snow tires, and they will put them on while the van is there getting it's fuel line fixed, then I will take Baby (the convertible) up there and change cars and they will fix her struts. Any wonder I stopped at the grocery and stocked up on zero carb Mojitos?

As for the recipes for the last couple nights dinners, they are in my cookbook, and they are awesome. I had the fried chicken and the meatza pizza. Must say both were fantastic. Dan is making me hamburgers, brussels sprouts, and salad for dinner tonight. Yummy!

Well, that's about all the news that's fit to print from my corner...hope all is well in your's!

Busy vehicle day! Glad you were able to get the repairs in motion. It's always something!

LOL....love the name for your convertible. Our SAAB is in a poorly state in the moment: the roof doesn't come down, the drivers window doesn't work & the ashtray won't stay shut. As for struts.....had to have the ones on my Ford replaced as the spring broke, slicing my front tyre to pieces. Hopefully this will be it for a while. Have a great weekend :)

Am trying to remember that old saying, something like - If you own a car you own a problem?

Ohh, I am so glad they found the leak in the break line BEFORE you lost controll!!!!! I lived in Alaska, had a Ford Econoline OLD, and was in the middle of the winter, pulling into a driveway, that had a cliff at the end, and the breaks didn't work, wheels kept spinning on the ice. At that point, i said thank g-d for the ice, I opened my door, ready to jump, told the guys outside, I can't stop, they got in and took it from there. Sounds like you have a pretty good price for fixing, and struts are an ez fix. I did them myself up in AK. LOL. Your cooking sounds fun, i might make a burger for dinenr!

Get your Baby taken care of! Very happy that the brake line was found while no one was behind the wheel. I hope you have a great weekend.

You were very, very fortunate to have found that hole in the brake line BEFORE it led to disaster. Still, I bet you're glad to be out of the repair shop and DONE with car repairs....at least for awhile. :)

Car problems are the pits! Hope they do a good job and you don't have to deal with it for a while. Your dinner sounds fantastic! It has inspired me to make roasted vegetables. That sounds good to me right now.

Gotta love car problems. Once we had this truck that I would take into the shop every month. I used to joke we were the silent owners of the business. =)

Carol, I hate it when the cars are on the fritz and I can't find a competent person to repair them, at least not without promising them an arm, leg, and my first born grandchild! Thank goodness I got the van fixed and back home without anymore problems. Tired of dealing with these vehicles, but when you drive old cars, this is what happens. Of course the mileage on them is super low, so they have a lot of years left in them. The car is a '94 and still only has 98,000 miles on it, and I do love it! Have a great weekend, my wonderful, awesome, amazing friend! Love ya!

schmetterling, my car is old, but I love it. The ashtray on it doesn't stay closed either! Must be a thing with them. Of course, I no longer smoke so it is just used to hold the pennies I find on the ground. When it gets full, I add them to the change jar! lol Glad that you got your Ford fixed and that the only damage was the tire! Could have been much more disastrous! Have a great weekend!

Pam, they turned out really good...I was very pleasantly surprised! Have a great weekend!

Boy, Buffy, you sure got that right!! lol...but at least it wasn't as bad as it could have been! Have a wonderful weekend!

Lizzy, that sounds scary! I was so thankful that the brake line went out on the driveway, and NOT while I was out on the road! God was watching over us for sure. The van is fixed, but Baby goes tomorrow. The struts on this thing are a beast and not something that can be done by me. You need special tools, and if you don't know what you are doing, they can explode (or so I have been told). I am just grateful that they will both be fixed and running after tomorrow! Have a great weekend!

Jaime, she will be all done tomorrow. Now if I could just convince someone to Pimp My Ride! Get BB taken care of as well! lol Have a great weekend!

Sandy, I have been saying prayers of thanks ever since we discovered it was broken. There was absolutely no brake fluid left in the reservoir! God was surely watching over us! We SHOULD be done with the repairs for a while after I get Baby done tomorrow...at least I sure hope so! Have a great weekend, my friend!

tglenna, I hope so as well, after the fiasco today with bleeding the brakes. Baby's struts should be a pretty straight forward job, as long as they don't discover anything else going on! Getting tired of dealing with these vehicles, but at least the things that are wrong aren't major! Knock on wood! Hope you enjoyed your roasted veggies. Have a fantastic weekend!

skwhite, that is how I feel about these cars sometimes. The van has gone through 3 fuel pumps (4 if this one needs to be replaced) and it is only 12 years old! That's just crazy! And they are not cheap or easy. Gotta drop the gas tank. At this point I think it is fixed so far...God willing! Have an awesome weekend!
