I have been searching for a healthier lifestyle and eating habits. I've tried many diets and even clean out my pantry but the diets all seem to have so many things that I do not have that's its expensive to start eating healthy. I am looking for some way to start with every day items incorpating healthy grains and fresh vegetables.

My starting weight is 153lbs and I would like to lose 30lbs.

I need to up my activity level however lately I have had no energy but go to work and come home.

I need any support, ideas, help, reciepies or workouts that anyone can offer me.

Let me get the ball rolling. The first change I made was drinking water. I don't drink soda, juice. I have a large coffee that I prepare with coffeemate and sugar m-f at work and drink 3 24 oz bottles of water a day. I sometimes have juice on Sundays with breakfast, but soda is out. I exercise after work & when I started this journey on Sept 28th, I could barely make it through a half hour. Before the time change for daylight savings, I was up to 3 miles in an hour. Now that it's dark I ride a stationary bike in my living room for 45 minutes 5 days a week & get about 10 miles done. I do NOT feel like doing it every day....but I do it. And it's gotten easier & easier. Plus in 4 months I've lost nearly 30 lbs.....that also keeps me going. And - no lie - I have way more energy. I don't eat fancy foods. I try to focus on better food choices & better portion control. I have fruit & a yogurt for breakfast, or oatmeal, or a fiber one bar....I'm lucky enough to go home for lunch & typically have a frozen lunch by Lean Cuisine or such or a sandwich with whole grain bread. I make fajitas with chicken breasts or thighs & peppers & onions & some Pace salsa rather than salty seasonings & use whole grain tortillas, reduced fat cheese, avocado, tomatoes. My husband also loves them. I make chicken breast stroganoff with greek yogurt instead of sour cream & use brown rice. I buy my food at SAFEWAY. One of the most important things I do is faithfully keep a daily food diary & this site has an amazing database which makes it very easy. If you just start, keep improving your choices & keep moving, miracles will happen!

Also I wanted to tell you that I do go to McDonald's from time to time & I have a chicken club sandwich with a side salad &use maybe 1/3 of a package of the lightest dressing & water...& hubby lets me steal a couple fries but I don't have any more than that. I have had deep dish pizza recently. I share a pint of ice cream with my hubby EVERY Saturday. I only buy fun size candy bars like you give out at Halloween. I indulge, but nowhere near the way I used to. And when I do, I work ou a bit harder, eat even lighter. Balance is important.
