Taking the day off from the gym and carbo-loading. It's nice to be lazy sometimes. My wrist appears to be getting better, but not fast enough. I will have to abstain from weights again this upcoming week.

By what you had for lunch, I am going to assume that you are of Korean descent. I'm half Japanese, and tomorrow I'm going out for sashimi with my little mom and aunt. I was visiting them yesterday and they wanted me to eat kimchee with them, but I can't do it without white rice! --one of my weaknesses :(

Mmmmm....kimchee and white rice.... My weakness too. Yeah, I am of Korean descent and I LOVE ttukboki. I can only have it on rare occasions when I'm loading up on carbs. I've given up regular consumption of carbs. The more research I did, the more I found out how bad it actually is - it is the leading cause of many complications later in life. I'd like to shoot for age 100 so I gave it up! LOL I recently discovered the wonders of natto. Do you eat it?

You know, I actually had to look up natto because I have never eaten any. My mom is from the southern-most island and I don't think it's a staple there. Honestly, I don't know how my mom's people stay so tiny. They must not be eating rice by the bucketful like I have been. But yeah, I can really tell a difference in how I feel since cutting the starchy stuff out of my diet. So much better! But I'm going to have to go to a local Korean restaurant to try ttukboki. That stuff looks fabulous!

OMG, ttukboki is one of those dishes that vary widely depending on who makes it. My mom makes it with beef and a ton of vegetables. Most restaurant variety has fish cakes in it, which I don't care for. It's like the Asian hotdog! lol. But try it! Watch out - it's pretty spicy. I've been reading about a growing epidemic of obese Korean kids. I know my students were pretty portly when I was a teacher there a few years back. They say that it's due to the infiltration of western fast foods. It must be true cuz I lost 25 lbs living there 2 years without dieting just by eating only Korean food. I miss it so much....sigh....
