fatoldlady's Journal, 22 January 2013

Work has been crazy busy, still learning a bunch of new stuff and trying to get organized so I can pump out those specs quicker. I use to be able to get up every hour or so and move around a bit but now I find myself stuck in my chair staring at that damn computer screen for hours on end. By the end of the day my eyes are sore and dry. I even feel guilty when I take some time to get the dogs out for a walk, keep thinking of all the things I should be doing. I hope this will get easier in time.

Running low on my thyriod and blood pressure meds so I need to make an appointment with my doctor. I'm anticipating not only the usual lecture on smoking but also questioned on why I have stopped losing weight. I do hope my blood pressure is low enough to cut back on some of the meds but with this added stress at work I'm not very confident that it will be.

only thing that drives me more crazy is sitting all day in front on the computer. hope it gets better, and never feel guilty for taking breaks and taking the dogs out! stay warm, it's now freezing in Georgia but I can't complain, only last a few days..

Bummer about the smoking, but I know it's probably a terrible thing to try to stop with the extra stress at work! Hope things slow down for you - I agree with Lizzy, make sure to take breaks from that computer screen frequently! It's important to give those poor eyes a break!

I hope that the stress level gets lower. I think you should keep in mind that if you take breaks, take the dogs out for a walk (and allow yourself to enjoy the walks rather than feel guilty about them), you'll come back to the computer feeling refreshed, better able to concentrate, and will be able to accomplish more as a result of the break. Your mind will work better. So - taking those breaks is what you need to do to be able to do your work better. And - besides - it's what you and the dogs need. Good in so many ways.
