No work today; yay! At least no commute to work. It's a holiday. I'm sitting here at the kitchen table, sipping a hot cup of java, while the pink grapefruit and mini bagel seeks out and attacks those hunger gremlins whining within. Success! I'm comfy. Having taken care of the animals, and having fed those glutonous winged creatures, I'm just watching the HGTV Dream Home Giveaway, and thinking that winning that would be about the only thing that could cause me to pull up roots and move.

Spent last night in the emergency room. DD was feeling like she had a brick on her chest. She thought she had the flu. Her blood pressure was rising, and she was having a hard time breathing. So, considering her history with thick blood, and the danger of blood clots, she got a free ride in the ambulance. They gave her nitro a couple times enroute and again at the emergency room. We met them there at the hospital. They gave her an EKG and tested for a heart attack. She wasn't having a heart attack. They tested for the flu, and she didn't have the virus. They tested for a blood clot and she didn't have that either. So, they admitted her for observation and now, we are just wating to see what the doctor is going to do. She is supposed to be on some kind of blood thinner, but she has just been taking aspirin, because the specialist had not made a decision on whether to continue the blood thinner. So, we don't know if that's the problem or not, but the family doctor thinks they ought to get to the bottome of this problem while they have her in there this time. I think so too. DW is on her way out there to visit her. I'm going to mind the homestead; she'll call me if there is anything serious going on. I did fine this weekend, ignoring any cravings for snacks - until last night. Ate a couple of bags of Cheez-its out of the vending machine. Just confirms that I'm an emotional eater.

It's cold enough to freeze my legs through my pants this morning. Been a while since I experienced that. Supposed to be a cold week. I'm not normally a Cold Freak, but I realize that if you don't have a good cold spell, you don't kill off a lot of the mosquitos and other parasites that plague the animals - both wild and domesticated. We had flurries most of yesterday afternoon and evening, but nothing stuck. Come on snow, quit horsing around. We need some.

Well, don't know what I'll get done today, but I'll enjoy doing something. I zoomed in on a couple of the bird feeders I can see out the kitchen window, and attached the photo. It looks like snow, but it's just the gravel in the drive. Everyone have a great day. Toodles!

Hope they figure out what is going on with your DD soon. I can only imagine how scary that is for her.

Awww... I want a feeder like that. MH tells me it'll attract more than just birds (when the seed scatters, etc) although he insists on hummingbird feeders every spring. I guess he's a bird bigot. Let us know when you & DW find out how DD is doing & what's going on. And, hey, I think you did well on only 2 bags of cheezits. I've probably gone through five bags of animal crackers in the past with the 'oh, at least they're fat free' only fooling myself justification.

I certainly do hope they find something to help your daughter. That is no way to live. Sounds like you are taking care of the home front quite nicely. At least the birds look happy.

The Doc came in and saw her this morning, but he was sicker than she was. Wanted her to get out of bed so he could get in it. :D Still don't have any answers yet; granddaughter was taking clothes and stuff in to her. I have a feeling they won't do anything but observe her until tomorrow, when it's not a holiday. Other than emergency room treatments, nothing much happens on a holiday or weekend day. FB, I understand where DH is coming from; we just decided watching the birds outweighed the negative aspects of putting up feeders. The cats love getting up in the window and watching, and watching them is more fun than watching the birds.

Hey, DK...so sorry to hear about your DD. Sure hope they figure out what the heck is going on. Love feeding the finches...they are just so cute and when their colors come in during the spring, they are GORGEOUS! The only thing I don't like is the thistle that seems to sprout everywhere from the dropped seed. I agree about the cats...it's much more fun to watch them watching the birds! lol Have a great day, and I will say some prayers for your daughter. :)

OMG... Do hope DD is ok.... Love the pic of the bird feeders :-). From what I can make out, they look like chaffinches of greenfinch.
