Successful Days One & Two....working on Day Three! Walked 3.1 miles today with doggies; DH along for the last half. Felt good to NOT do Stairmaster today...gets kind of boring just climbing and climbing for 45 minutes, 2 days in a row.

DH and I will not be going to Atlanta this spring. Due to impending sequestration cuts in Defense, the funding for continuing education events such as this, has been revoked. While we're not happy about this, it's certainly better than having troops in the field without body armor! When I hear about all the infighting in Congress over budgetary cuts, I can't help but think that there are a MILLION things that could be cut without much pain at all, in ALL departments. And that would include some questionable expenses in Congress' own budget!

Good job on the walking, Sandy. Your dogs must be extra fit.

Glad you were able to get out and walk, Sandy. Sorry about your trip. I agree there are a lot of things that could be cut. Have a wonderful Sunday!

Nothing beats being out in the fresh air on a nice day! I think you two ought to plan a weekend away to make up for the canceled trip - a nice romantic one!

Bren, I WILL miss not going to Atlanta....been there often enough, I'm feeling like I'm beginning to know my way around. I had also thought to finally get to that nice new Aquarium this year....I'm sure the fish will be there another year. :)

Heather, the dogs do pretty well. My Lab doesn't run in agility anymore (heart condition), so it's good to get her mvoing in some way. My Collie, on the other hand.....well, let's just say he's a LOT calmer after he's had his daily walk!

Stef, glad to see you're feeling up to hopping around a few journals. With that new FitBit and better health to come, you'll be back out walking in the sunshine too.

Buffy, unless it revolves around a car show, I doubt DH would be interested! LOL! Still....a gal can always hope.... :)

Wow...45 min on a stairmaster, now that is a claim to fame you should frame! Evil machines they are I hear. So, about those questionable Congressional expenses...ah, never mind, I best not get started on that, but, I do agree with you. Anyway, I think DH should plan a "car show" trip too...sounds like fun for both of you.

To be honest GG, I don't "do" Stairmaster exactly like those skinny 20-somethings do it at the gym! LOL! I used to.....back in the good ol' days....but not anymore. When these evil machines came out, it was pretty commonplace to see guys and gals quite literally draped all over the handlebars, and even the consoles!, climbing up a storm at Level Gazillion. Of course you can climb up a storm, IF those handlebars and consoles are supporting most of your weight! Now, however, I climb at a much lower level but stand upright and place very, very little of my weight on my hands. Still gives me a darn good workout, at least according to my heart rate. As for a car show trip.....sign me up if the show is next to an outlet mall! :)

Sandy...45 min on ANY piece of excercise equipment is awesome! Remember back when that wasn't possible, or as easy for you...that's the thing to remember! Up in these parts, they have car shows IN the malls sometimes I hear!
