RiverRes's Journal, 17 January 2013

Work is cutting into my self care and diet management. The number of meetings has tripled. I am re-inserting myself into a work task I stopped doing nearly a year and a half ago when I was promoted. It is time consuming and visually taxing; but the consequences of not doing it correctly are terrible for my company.

My son's headaches have also returned. Is my stress rubbing off on him? Hmmm. Nothing like journaling to bring things to light....

OK. My only coping mechanism is to break it down to manageable portions.

I will call the doctor to report what is going on with my son. I will try to schedule an appointment for Monday (no school) or Friday afternoon (early dismissal) for him. Goal: prevent these damned migraines.

I will do my regular job first thing as I arrive at work today. I have 4 meetings today. Those are out of my control, but I still have to go. Unless required, keep your mouth shut and for goodness sake, don't volunteer for anything!

The extra work task will just have to be fit in around my existing obligations at my job; the rest can be done over the weekend. You are 10% done with your evaluation, but have found over 25% of the mistakes through your knowledge of operations. Embrace the fact that the rest of your evaluation will go quickly in comparison.

I will keep carrots nearby as my stress food. Lunch is already taken care of with my homemade burrito. I will get up and move at work and try to get the daily step count back over 7500 by the time I get home. When I get home, do my workout first, dinner second, and work comes dead last - you already 10 hour days!

You are so amazing. The strength and composure you display shines through in your journal and serves as inspiration to all of us. Good for you on managing it all and still taking care of you. Bella

I'm not much into holistic medicines, but there is this natural herb called feverfew that is supposed to be real effective at controlling migraines, and even helping once they have started. I can't put a link in a comment here, but more info is available at www.health.howstuffworks(dot you know what)/wellness/natural-medicin... and search for migraine headache pain relief. If you can't get to it, I can send a link in a message. You've had quite a bit of trauma going on, and I can see how this might be working on the boy.
