DairyFarmersWife's Journal, 16 January 2013

I finally did it. I took measurements yesterday. I could never manage to remember to measure myself at home so I grabbed the measuring tape and threw it in my bag to do it at work. I don't like my measurements. Now at least 10 people in my office know I don't like my measurements thanks to working in a cube farm. The first person was the woman in the bathroom stall next to me. Measurement taking + sleep deprivation = talking to yourself in the bathroom stall. I got a couple giggles and a snort when I said something about damn kids ruined my hips. Honestly the damn cellulite ruined my hips but I didn't have that until I had kids.

Then I spent the next half hour at my desk making measuring tape rings at my desk to see how big 44 inches and 39 inches really were. My hips and waist are way bigger than they need to be. I'm pretty sure everyone in the cube farm around me now knows this. I have measurements somewhere on a piece of paper from when I was 185. I should compare these. But... I can't find them. They probably turned into the backside of a drawing or grocery list. Someone at Wegmans has seen a piece of paper in the middle of the aisle, picked it up, and now knows my boob, waist, hip, arm, and thigh measurements. They probably found the list in front of the cookie section.

Yesterday I ate well. Not great because I experimented and made something edible. Not just edible but tasty! It happens so rarely that I splurged and ate more than I should have. Who knew hamburger and soy sauce wrapped in a lettuce leaf could taste so good. So my carbs were great but my calories were a little over. It kept the craving I had for sweets in the background though. I think I crushed it under all the beef.

Today I'm going shopping for a protein shake I can have at work for breakfast when I'm running late. Now I just have to find one that keeps me full and doesn't leave me craving more. Any suggestions?

I record my measurements as a journal entry here or they would end up lost forever and probably a grocery list as well. One thing I love about measuring is putting the tape around me at the old measurements to see how far I have come. It helps to keep me motivated to not go back where I was ever! Good luck with protein drinks. I have never found one that I like the taste of, but maybe some of our FS buddies will have a good suggestion. Oh and the old measurements that someone picked up in the cookie aisle were the old you, and I bet the new ones are much better. ;)

If it makes you feel any better, I hate my measurements too!

The brand Boost has a chocolate shake I used to drink on the go.I liked it but I can eat some bland food. Make sure you shake it up real good though. The vitamins and minerals are at the bottom so ya. But it definitely worked.

If you'd ever eaten any of my cooking you would know that I'm not always all that picky. lol My biggest concern is it sending me into an eating binge. If I can eat burnt brat burgers I can drink something with all the vitamins and minerals at the bottom. lol

OK... so lets meet up and I'll bring you some protein powder to try and a blender bottle. Keep a blender bottle in your desk and a carton of almond milk in the fridge and it's better than any premade shake. Add in a bit of FF/SF pudding mix and let it sit in the fridge a bit and it's even better! I have never measured, EVER so kuddos to you! I use lettuce for wraps sometimes. It's great with that buffalo chicken I got you to make.

Mmmm buffalo chicken. I'm going to have to try making that again tomorrow. At this rate I'll have two meals in one week that I can't stay out of. lol We should meet up on friday! Then I can steal a workout video from you too. If not friday sometime this weekend. You can tell me if I look retarded in pig tails. I'm going through a wierd hair phase where I want it up and out of the way but it isn't long enough for a pony tail.

LOL about the measurements at work. I agree - put them in a journal so you can reference back. My favorite protein is from Nectar. I get it at the Vitamin Shoppe. Not sure if you have them out there, but if not, you can go online and get free shipping. That's what I do most of the time anyway. So my favorite flavors are Caribean Cooler (tastes like Pina Colada), Crystal Sky (tastes like fruit punch kinda), and chocolate truffle (Tastes like heaven!). I mix mine with soymilk or regular milk. :)

Measurements, grrrr....I found those cool pants size 29 that fit; I rush home & measure my waist; still 32. I think I'm destined to have no waist, sigh. Chest & backside are the only things keeping me from having the same measurements all the way. At least I know my waist used to measure 42". Thyne's protein shake sounds better than the occasional rich chocolate Slimfast shake I have. If you do coffee & need a real boost, dissolve espresso powder in 1/4 cup heated milk, then add to protein shake. I do that when pressed for time before an exercise class (with the chocolate Slimfast) that makes me good to go for at least 4 hours.

I use body fortress chocolate protein powder, but I am at home and one thing I use shaved ice.... not sure how to manage that at a job outside of the home.
