I got some Lindt 85% Extra Dark Chocolate today and added a bit of that to my diet. I have been reading the Ultra Metabolism book by Dr. Hyman, and have read other research, and all the scientific evidence points to the benefits of this extra dark chocolate. So I checked it and in 4-1 inch squares there are 8 grams of carbs, 3 grams of fiber, 5 grams of sugar, and 4 grams of protein. And it tastes great.
I enjoyed 2-1 inch squares today! And I am still under on my carbs.

Very nice! Was it decadent?

Ohhh that sounds awesome! I'm so afraid to even buy chocolate cause I don't think I have the will power to put the bag away and stop eating it LOL!

Stef, when I was last at Wal-Mart I found that they have SF Extra Dark Chocolate bars with much lower carb count. They are quite pricey (like $3) but might be worth a try. And with dark chocolate, a little goes a long way.

Keli, what brand? I will pick some up. Tig, oh yes it was and I am so glad that I found it. And it did not cause any cravings. I guess that it is because it is dark chocolate and the sugar amount is relatively low. JustDuckie, that is why I ahve waited 6 months to try it. If it causes me to crave more, then I will buy no more. It comes in a 3.5 oz bar, and the pieces are about 1 inch swuare. I break it into small pieces and let it melt very slowly in my mouth. I figure if I am going to indulge myself, I am going to savor every single taste! Martinigirl, I ahven't found a peanut butter that is sugar free that I like. My favorite is Peter Pan and if the urge hits me I will alot it into my daily carb intake. But I try to control that urge, as it is so high in carbs, and since I count total, it makes a big dent in my daily allowance. It seems to me that the dark chocolate really satisfies my chocolate craving wiht a much smaller amount than the lighter chocolates. And although it isn't something I will eat everyday, it was a nice treat!

Seriously? I have no idea. I will have to look and get back with you. I do know that our Wal-Mart is going through major renovations right now and offering different items than they previously have been. These bars were located in the grocery area on the same isle as the other "banned" candies. I was quite surprised to find how many SF items they have to offer. I try not to eat these things but try to have just in case. I don't have the will power not to eat the whole thing if it were regular. But I know I have to stop with the SF one or there will be consequences, if you know what I mean.

Alright, I can't find it but I believe it was Lindt, Ghirardelli, or Chuao.

LCGlowy, I haven't indulged since I started this journey, because I wasn't sure I could control myself. Keli, this chocolate bar was Lindt also, but not SF. I will check the next time I decide to brave the local Wal Mart!
