Lot's of people lose weight eating carbs. It's about finding a balance of the food groups and caloric intake. Exercise is also important (if you are able). Eat carbs that are lower on the glycemic scale. There are some diabetic magazines with amazing recipes in them. Play around with calories till you find what helps you lose but keeps you healthy. You can also try caloric cycling (higher and lower days).
