posterchild66's Journal, 13 January 2013

Wow, Friday night was great. Pretty much did a Katy Perry and drank til I forgot what was going on, lol. I dont think I kissed anyone.

Here in Bahrain beers can be expensive in town. Thursday I had 3 beers and my bill was essentially 10 dinars (Thats 26 dollars). Pissed me off! I can get a whole case for that on base!

My buddy/bad influence Barry invited to tag along to a brunch on Friday. I also helped him move into his new place in the AM (Drove him and 2 suitcases, lol). He has a nice flat overlooking the bridge/sea I ride my bike by, about 1/2 mile from me.

Anyway, we go to brunch, and the food was standard bar fare, nothing spectacular. It also was much more restrictive on what you could drink, it was unlimited Carlsburg. We set a goal at 6 pints to cover the 18BD charge. We ended up at 7. Highlight was some crazy young Brit vomiting massive amounts of fluid up in the middle of the bar. He obviously did not eat anything before imbibing, and maybe that is a good thing.

Walked our cold and drunk butts home around 5 or 6 (PM), but hit a few bars on the way (Actually some really nice ones). Also hit a Thai place that had really good food! Confirmed the next day with leftover that it was not not the whiskey talkin. Anyway, I was in bed by 9 or 10, and nobody got hurt except my weight loss journey. All in all, a good day. I needed a boys night out for a long time.

I can see I will certainly have to control the frequency of that.

Anyway, it is 25-30 MPH winds here all weekend, and its cold (59F). Which for us is like freezing! lol. I did ride this AM but again only for 30 minutes. My wind forecaster is expecting this weather all week too. It super sucks.

Today, back to diet plan. Yesterday did not do terrible, I will try and log it. There was some hangover grazing on cookies the kids have hidden (not very well).

Sometimes we all need and deserve a "Katy Perry" night! Well done! And don't worry for the weight loss journey, one day off the wagon does not affect it too much! :)

You are so funny, JP. Glad you got a boys night out. Sorry about the hurting to your weight loss journey. I can't believe how cold and windy it is there. I'm not sure why that surprises me. I guess I just imagined it would be hot all the time. So, I'm curious. What [spoken not programming] languages do you and your children speak: English, Arabic, Hindi, Tagalog, Persian?

Haha... you know the food is good when you don't need to be drunk to like it :-) in one of my many lives I ran a 24 hour diner - the 'bar' crowd were not our most discerning diners.... I'm sure the WLJ will recover soon the way you nurture it.

$26 for three beers!? Ridiculous. The only time I've paid close to that was $10 a beer at Ghostbar in Vegas...but I just bought 1 then latched onto a tall, dark handsome cop on vaca who bought the rest of mine :) Mooch!

Haha - funny journal!! I cracked up on the last line of your gratitude list. Love that you think 59F is cold, it was about -23F last night here! Glad you had a fun weekend, hope the wind isn't as bad as they say it will be for you this week!!

Heather, we speak English only, being the type of Americans that just do that. We are not alone, the Brits do that to, and in addition demand "English Breakfast" everywhere they go. lol. Who wants beans and eggs!? Thanks for all the support guys. It was a crazy week and seeing all your posts helped a lot. I have been too busy to mess with FS much.

That's interesting. I just imagined the kids had to go to school where other languages are spoken.
