ctlss's Journal, 12 January 2013

and I have been resting most of the day. I am still doing well with the food, but this bug has me laid low. I have not had more than 4,000 steps in a day since I got sick. Seems to always happen, doesn't it? Right as you are ready to get back at it, something interferes. Can't wait for this crud to be gone so that I can start the kettlebell workouts and the Tai Chi. I have read the manuals forwards and backwards, but heck just drying the dog off when he came in out of the rain wore me out. I had to lean against the wall and catch my breath. This stuff is not for the faint of heart. I can see how babies and seniors can end up hospitalized.

I lost my Fitbit a while back and middle sis gave me one that she had squirreled away. It was a first generation Fitbit and I was so happy to get it. Last week baby sis gifted me with one of the fancy new ones, and I gifted my niece, Lizzie, with the one from middle sis. Now most of the fairer gender in our family use a Fitbit. YAY!! We are a Fitbit kind of family. I have 2 aunts, 2 sisters, a niece, a cousin, and a DIL that use these little gems to help us get healthy!

Weight today was the same, which is good, since I have been soooo inactive. All I have done is sleep, sit, watch TV, and go to the bathroom...the only exercise I get other than walking is coughing. Wonder how many calories you burn when you have a coughing fit? I am drinking lots of water to keep hydrated.

We are supposed to have some winter weather come through tonight. They are calling for about 2/10ths of an inch of ice along with sleet and snow. At 8 pm it is raining cats and dogs and the temp is at about 33 degrees. I found someone to take care of the coffee, bagels, and cookies tomorrow for church, so I don't have to worry about getting out. Baby sis and her family are in Kirksville ( about 3 hours north-northwest of us), at the district band concert. My nephew, Sam, got picked to play his Alto Saxamaphone in the band, so they are staying the night. Sure hope they can make it home tomorrow.

Well, that's about all the news that's fit to print from my corner...hope all is well in yours!

Feel better soon!! Love the part about your Fitbit family. :) Stay snuggled in at home, that weather sounds like the last 2 days in my neck of the woods, and now it is about -23 degrees... brr!!

Stef, glad you're feeling a little better. Funny about your fitbit. I bought my sister one for Christmas, with Bren's help. I actually bought 4 fitbits as gifts. My sister seems to LOVE it, which is amazing in itself. So I have a question for you fitbit types. She "friended" me last night, or whatever is the fitbit equivalent. Does that work with someone who doesn't have a fitbit?

Hope you didn't get the snow as promised but, if you did, please, please, please stay safe and warm.

So happy your corner of the world is reporting in. I have missed you! Of all the winter weather, I dislike the freezing rain stuff the most, so stay safe. I have been hearing a lot about the fitbit thing lately & have even caught myself thinking I really, really NEED one...maybe. As far as the friending question...clueless!!

Stef, so sorry you're still sick....and it sounds like you got the BIG bug, too. Even though you'll miss that church message, it's better to stay home and rest. Hope your sister and family can make it home safely today.

Stef - take it slow, and recover well...you'll have all the time you need to go at it 100% once you are tip top!!! If you have to catch your breath during the dog walk, I'm guessing you're not well enough to be doing much else yet? just sayin'... Love you, Girl... be well!

I hope you feel better stef and if I was you I would take it slow when you do decide to start working out again.

Thanks, Erika. We went from almost 70 yesterday to 17 degrees now. You stay warm as well!

Thanks, Heather! Glad you sister likes her Fitbit. It may help her be more active, which could benefit her enormously. As for the friending...as far as I know you can only friend people with Fitbits.

And no we didn't get the snow, and the ice only stuck to the trees! Beautiful, but I was very disappointed!

Thanks, Vcravener. I know from experience to listen to my body. I will take it slow and easy.
