I really need to lose weight.

I have injuries from sports and the Army and feeling quite brittle.

My day job has me sit for 10 hours a day at a computer. I then sit for a couple hours a night doing work on the computer at home.

I have sleep apnea.

I have high cholesterol.

I am depressed and have social anxiety.

I get angry easily.

I get winded on stairs.

My grandfather's both died of heart problems; one of them was 38.

I need to be around to support my family, financially, and as a father and husband.

I constantly am thinking about my weight. I hate looking in mirrors. I hate sucking my gut in.

I know my wife wants me to lose the weight.

I am an emotional eater and snacker late at night when I am working.

I need to-----must lose weight and get in shape.

You CAN DO THIS!!! Realizng that you need to is the first step. You are here which means your at the next step of wanting to. Huge differnce between the two. So excellent, and you can to this!!!

Rubie-sue, Thanks very much for your support. I most often think it is impossible; my mother and sister have thyroid problems and are overweight. I have low testosterone as well. I'm going to have to start slowly and chart & celebrate my little wins so I feel like it's working. I plan to start on our elliptical machine 20 mins a day starting tomorrow. I'll do that until I feel like I have some sort of muscle and can join a gym. My ultimate goal is to join cross fit and do a 1/2 marathon, but I know that's far off. As for a diet, I plan on low carb, low fat, high fruits/vegetables/nuts. cheers

Thyroid replacement and testosterone replacement would take care of nearly your entire list. Find a good hormone doctor. Do NOT let a lazy doctor just take a simple blood test. While slow thyroids are more common in women, they are genetic and DO occur in men. My thyroid sputtered out about a decade ago. It caused lots of other things to go haywire (including my body ceasing to produce testosterone). It took a very smart doctor who refused to accept that a lab can do his job to sort it all out... You will be so happy when the fog clears and you "find the real you" was there all along, if this turns out to be the culprit for you, as well. Best wishes!

WS27101, Thanks for your comment and support. I am going to do some research on low testosterone and how to deal with it. Thanks for your advice. I am going to get some bloodwork done next week; I have put it off for a year hiding my head in the sand, thinking 'I'll lose weight and get in shape and then go and get the blood work." I know I have to face the results and deal with them. thanks
