jsfantome's Journal, 09 January 2013

Sorry to just run in...journal..and out the door! But today is another busy day! Volunteering at the church office, and have taken on an 'Event Planner' position w/ the church. HA! All those hours spent w/ daughter planning her wedding will definitely come in handy!!

Had a class last night, and another tomorrow night... long story, but hubby and I are teaching a 'book club' home group for our church. We are using the book... Supernatural Ways of Royalty.

If you've never heard of it, or read it... it starts out by revealing to you how from childhood our 'belief systems' (for most of us) - get developed faulty.

But if you are a Christian... you eventually come to the realization you are a child of the Most High God. Creator of the Universe. Co-heirs in Christ. You, my friend.. are royalty. But what do you do with all of the 'pauper' mentalities rolling around between your ears!?!

Do you think like a 'prince' or 'princess'??? (like you truly are.) Or do you view life's circumstances and events like a pauper?

This - has been OH SO EYE OPENING for me.

More to come, but I have to run.

All things food and exercise are going fantastic! :)

Much Love,
Paula

It's better to journal and run than to not journal at all. :) - to pitch in on your question: I am atheist, and an ushakable one at that. I do think like a "king". I answer to no-one when it comes to personal decisions (within common sense and the law, of course) and I rule my own little domain. I feel that I have confidence, and that I am in control. To me, there is no need to label it with any kind of belief system or religion. It's how I truly am. It's an interesting question, though. How do we see ourselves, and why? I think it would be much more interesting to put it in a weight loss perspective. Do so many of us lose self esteem because we are overweight, or are we overweight because we lost self esteem?

Hey Paula....hope you have a great day. Sounds like an interesting read. I think kingkeld brought up a good point about putting that question in a weight perspective. Do we think like a lessor person because we are overweight or letting our body issues create low self esteem. Are we overweight because we are trying to build a shell to protect ourselves or is it created from low self esteem? Those are great questions...I think for me even though I don't think I have low self esteem I do think that when I am heavier I do not feel as good about myself. So I do not lower the standards for myself or the way that I expect others to treat me when I am heavier....HOWEVER as the weight comes off I do begin to feel BETTER about myself...and that has to have an effect somewhere (even if it is not apparent or visible to me).

Keld - I will pray for you! LOL!!! (just teasing of course!) Interesting that you went there...cause that's where I went. I do have low self esteem. And the weight issues...just makes it all worse. I don't see myself as successful. Heck, I have a hard time seeing myself as loved (on most days.) But as I've been reading this book, I am beginning to see this is not what I am meant to be thinking like! Lots of 'old tapes' rambling around in my head - lessons learned from some neglectful years of childhood ... and here I am an adult - and just starting to really come to grips with accepting myself. This life is very special to me - my beliefs and values - also very special to me - why didn't I see sooner, just how critically important what we 'think' really is ... to who we are.
